Default My Carter Beauford replica kit

Hey guys..........I'm a huge fan of Carter Beauford. I've always loved how his kit sounded, so I bought the cymbals he used. I always had a traditional kit setup with my ride on the right, but after seeing Carter's kit, I wanted to try it out with the open hand style. It's been the most comfortable setup I've had yet and so it's stuck. Anyway, here's my Pearl Sessions SBX kit on this link:

http://pearldrummersforum.com/showth...&page=12&pp=12

Since these pics have been taken, I've switched the HHX Ozone to an A Custom EFX, the 8" A Custom Splash to an 8" A, and I'm trying to find an 18" Oriental Classic China to replace the 18" A Custom. The top 2 crashes have been changed to an 19" K Custom Hybrid and the 18" K Dark Medium Thin. I am selling that 20" K Custom Hybrid Ride and my 20" A Custom Projection Ride is in it's place.

Wow, I don't think I've ever heard of someone liking a drummer so much as to so radically change their style of playing! But most pro drummers play crossed and most non-pros play crossed, so it shouldn't be much of an issue anyway.

I've always played open and I agree, it is very comfortable and natural.

Really beautiful set! What the heck is the wavy warped cymbal to your left?

Specs please on everything.

Carter's my idol! He's my fave drummer too. I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to try switching my rides to the left and playing open handed, purely because I'm still in the process of strengthening my left side up. I can play open handed, but I'm not yet at the stage where I'm comfortable to do so regularly =] Nice setup! lol, how is the 19" Hybrid crash? I'm thinking on getting one......

Yeah it was pretty expensive lol. The flat ride is awesome..........great for quiet stuff. I had a pro mark rattler on it with a 6" splash stacked on it, but I took the rattler off and I like it just as well. It's a great ride!

Carter being my favorite drummer, you have one of my favorite set-ups. I would love to get behind a set like that and just go nuts.

Have you thought of sending pictures to Carter himself to see what he thinks?

I guess the next step would be to practice practice and more practice until you're as good as Carter, but I don't know if that's possible. He is the man.

Peace Easy

I really love it. I use it mainly for cymbal swells. It's perfect for that. It's also really good for a big, huge china sound. I'm wanting an 18" too but can't seem to find a used one!

Hey guys just wanted to let you know my 19" Zildjian K Custom Dark China is for sale. It's in perfect condition with no cracks/dents/keyholes. Only has a few fingerprints. I'm asking $215 plus $20 shipping to anywhere in the lower 48. My 18" Zildjian A Custom China is for sale too! I'm wanting to switch to a 19" K Custom Hybrid China, so thats why I'm selling. PM me or send me an email to a_parker2005@yahoo.com if interested!

I also received my 19" K Custom Hybrid Crash! It's my favorite crash on my kit now. It's absolutely amazing. It's pretty dark, but has a slight hint of high pitch because of the brilliant section. I love it!

Christmas Update!

Since I last posted pics............I've added an 18" Oriental Classic China, a 19" K Custom Hybrid China, an 18" Armand Medium Thin Crash, and a 13" Pearl Export Tom to my left side. I got the tom on ebay for only $25. I also put coated heads on my toms which sound MUCH deeper and warmer than the clears.

As soon as I sell my 13" K/Z hats, I'll be picking up some 13" Armand hats.

I'm a huge Beauford fan. Amazing kit...the whole replicating thing is cool and all, but it seems really extreme. That's a pretty expensive replication, especially when your constantly selling your cymbals to keep up with Carter's ever changing cymbal set-up.

It's cool though, do your thing...

Nice Set man!!!

I am doing something similar, I'm gonna throw in a few personal changes though.

I am REALLY interested as to how you stacked those Splashes and Chinas. I can not find something to do that with out damaging the lower boom arm's threads

What did you use?

Thanks man! I'm using two 4" DW Cymbal stackers. They're like $18 a piece and work great.

I've also been using a LOT smaller kit here lately, and it's opening up a whole new door to my playing. I haven't got any pics yet, but here's the specs of it:

22" bass, 14" Snare, 10, 12, and 16" Toms

13" Armand hats
17" K Dark Medium Thin
18" K Dark Medium Thin
19" K Custom Hybrid
20" Oriental Crash of Doom
24" K Light Ride

heh I have been looking for about 20 mins... I think this might be it.
You have these?

http://www.dwdrums.com/fa/cymstackers.htm

And this just screws down to any cymbal stand?

If so that is a much better option than what was recomended to me at first...

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Gibralta...33-i1139043.gc

Those things eat up your threads, you could see it right there in the store I didn't even have to buy them to see that.

I would go to the Pearl forum and look but it is down at the moment.... Do you use the EFX cymbals? if so do you prefer the A customs or the ZHT's?
