Basically, it's a Ludwig, probably from the mid-60's +/- (it has Imperial lugs, and the shell is mahog/poplar/mahog with maple rings), and a severely worn out WMP finish. Here's a pic of the worst area: ![]() Same thing, but close up: ![]() Inside shot of the damage: ![]() and finally, a creative way to harass my dog: ![]() My goal is to repair it using the best method possible. That could be removing the entire section and replacing it, or filling in the cracks. Keep in mind, that the area between the cracks has flattened out some. I'm pretty sure that it's the result of some type of mounting system being installed that wasn't properly fitted to the radius of the shell, and that's what caused the damage, and the loss of it's original shape. Because of that, a few clamps and cauls would be necessary to re-radius the original wood if it were to be salvaged. I'm open to ideas here, as I don't know where to start. Many thanks... |

Your best bet is to sign up at ghostnote.com and ask them. Some of the guys over there are gurus, and the drums they build will put most major manufacturers to shame (especially our own Frank with his Unix drums).
