Wow. That is most certainly a keeper. Really just flooring, the look of that drum. I wish I had atleast a 2002 cymbal, let alone a 2002 drum! Congratulations.

Ooooh, I just noticed the top rim in the first pic- looks a little curved. I would hate to have an out-of-round die-cast hoop. Tell me it's a camera trick...

I dunno, I see it too. That's very disheartening... I hope it's nothing! Beautiful drum, man.

I checked the hoop. Its flat as a board. Pure optical illusion.

Shell is perfect round. I did the flashlight test.

Here is a nice pic of the inside.

Its done. I have a Canopus on the way. I will play them for a while then decide what stays and what goes. I do really love the 2002, its gonna stay. I have the new five star sonor kit coming in next week and plan to take some nice pics. I ordered the Dunnett R Class Throw off in gold to replace the nickleworks explodo throwoff.

About that "what goes" part... you know where to reach me.

Thanks everyone. I have been playing on her all weekend. Man I really really am digging this drum. Its very sensitive with a nice warm sound. I find it to be quite special. I am very blessed and I would never take this for granted. She commands your eye from the very beginning. Then she takes your ears. After that goes your heart and your in love. Yup she is a keeper.

I got the Dunnett Gold R Class Throwoff today. It blows the black nickleworks throwoff to bits. I will get some snare wires tomorrow. I see that Jeff Ocheltree has his own heads. They look good. I would like to try a set on the snare.

My vote is for getting a gold-plated snare stand, brass snare wires, and maybe even some sort of gold-coated head if possible. Make that baby into King Midas' snare drum.

I know this is an old thread, I don't care. That snare looks so amazing it's making my heart melt! (Like looking at Pamela Anderson PRE-skankiness!)

I want to bang on one so bad. I love my Ocheltree Dangerous snare but that has it beat in the looks department hands down. And I bet in the sound department too.

Too bad the few I've seen available are usually over $1500. I have far too many other "real life" needs right now.

I practically crapped my pants when I saw that picture of your full set with the 2002 snare.

Is Spirit of 2002 a brand?

the lines behind 2002 are the same as on the Paiste 2002 logo.
What is it?

Bram

it's a snare drum made out of paiste 2002 bronze. (B20?)

2oo2 is B8. My understanding is that it is made from melted down 2oo2s, but I'm not sure if Paiste is the actual maker of the drum or just supplied the materials and commissioned someone else to make it. ?????

That would be cool to do with your own broken cymbals :)

Jeff Ocheltree, a drum builder and big name drum tech, made these drums from Paiste's 2oo2 bronze.

Funny, I had not stopped by in a while.
Its nice to see my thread still has value.
I was blessed in no small way with that drum.
I paid $1200 shipped. I was very very lucky.
The orignal throw off was cracked in shipping.
I hate having drums shipped, necessary evil I guess.
Be that as it may, it was not damaged otherwise in anyway.
The original throwoff was plastic crap IMO.
The new Gold Dunnett is much nicer anyway.
Gives it real class and bling bling.
Its a wonderful snare. A incredible rock snare.
Loud and also articulate at low volume, great drum.
Also it has a nice nice side stick click.
Truly works perfect with the Signature kit.
Visually stunning. Heavy beast too.
I am very lucky to be alive and drumming.
Thanks everyone. Cheers.

Beautiful snare, JL...

I had the pleasure of being down front and hear Carl Palmer lay into
his Spirit of 2002 on the recent ASIA tour and it is a fantastic snare.

Enjoy...
