Default Grunters Great Gretsch

Just got these tonight from a Craigslist seller. Was able to wait two weeks while the price went down to 650.00
8, 10, 12, 14, 22 Renown Maple in Cherry Burst
Will scout for a small rack tomorrow to set them up. Enjoy.

Thanks Lads. More photos are definitely on the way.
That TV is older than dirt. It was used during the Last Supper, and it still works.

The Tayes are sitting here sobbing. They are for sale. A little jealousy on their part.

Nice find and I really love that color. The color reminds me of my old Tama superstar Cherry wine kit. Congrats!

Hey, that great Gretsch sound!!
I like their Renown Maple line and you got an amazing deal!

Just one question and I always wondered: Is the inner side of the shell grey finished or is it kind of a ply? And why are the shells grey in the inside?

Those are some seriously nice drums there John my friend. A lot of the people I know have recently started to move to Gretsch and it's nice to see such great drums getting the attention they deserve. Needless to say they'll serve you well; they are a bit special.

I am beginning to think you are right about them being Cherry Burst. They do look more like that from the web site. I think the guy that sold them to me was told AB and he posted them that way. As I said they were never used so no one saw them but him and the retailer. I am beginning to like my Cherry Burst Gretsch's. Thanks for waking me up Jamndrummer.

I say whoa!
Beautiful drums man!
$650 - you gota be kidding me!

The shellpack alone is worth more than $2,500 - at least that's what you'd have to pay way up here in Canada. What a find!

Nice setup - they look spectacular.

Cheers,

Thanks Kona...I went to my local shop this Morning to look at racks, and they had nothing. The only salesman there was a guitar player and seemed like he didnt know what I was after. So I was forced to go to the local Guitar center, and decided to get stands and clamps instead. On top of their shelf was the exact Kit for 1499.00. This kit has never been played and is six months old, so I think 650.00 was great deal. It was 900.00 two weeks ago so I waited to see if he would come down and he did. Yay for me, and thanks again.

I think you're very lucky someone else didn't scoop those drums for $900.

Ya - I know what you mean about looking for racks and stands - it's a little daunting. It sure pays to have a good knowledgeable retailer on-side. I find it's rare to find a drum store retailer that keeps the wants of "you" in mind and goes out of their way to help. That's why it's so great to have a Forum like this to ask questions.

Hope it all comes together for you - and the way you want it to.

This kit was up for $1500 in the Rockville MD Guitar Center 3 months ago. I'd say you got a great deal.

Thanks for looking.

Hey "Gruntersdad" I saw those Gretsch drums too, I live in the Tampa Bay area and check out "Craigslist" regularly.
Congrats and a great price, I also saw your Taye's that you have listed now, I recognized
the room on the picture you have taken them in.
Good Luck with the sale.

WOW!
Great drums, great price! Gretsch drums have been my favorite for many years.
What is the difference between Renoun Maples and USA Customs? Other than color choices I cant find anything thats different.

The USA Customs are hand made in the USA, the Renowns are made in Taiwain. Also the shells, while both maple, are different.

Nice looking drums and a great price. I like how you have economized hardware and mounted several things on each stand.

Craigslist has good deals and I have bought and sold many things there ... just don't get kidnapped, mugged or ripped off!

Drove 42 miles one way to look at them and gave a friend the address in case I was never heard from again. Very nice neighborhood, etc. so I felt safe. Did a google map search first to check it out. Too mush cash in my pocket to not be safe.

I wanted a rack but couldn't find one small enough for the right cash so I used dog bones and clamps.
I love the virgin bass to makes positioning the toms easier. Not confined to the reach of the tom holder.

You could use a rack, but you don't have enough stuff to necessarily justify it. I have four toms and five cymbals mounted on two stands, using a DW Dog Bone and a couple of Puppy Bones and DW 9000 stands. You've economized pretty well and show off these beautiful Gretsches. There are some kits with a forest of stands around them and you can barely see the drums.
