Have heard the DDRUM shells are not that well constructed.........PDP does look like a better build,........in Aus I can get the PDP for $1599 and the DDRUM for about $1000 Also been looking at the Premier Cabria kit which is 100% maple for about the same price as PDP.......... Hardware looks good on PDP...............anyone got any of these kits, cheers |

I don't think the BX kits are available in the US yet. Still, it's an all birch PDP so I'm assuming it's in line with their FS/ FX series. I would probally prefer the DDrum, but that's just my preference. I like the 24" vigin bass set-up, die cast hoops and maple shells.
Still, you should try both and see which one YOU like. If you think both have comparable build quality, then see which has the sound, set-up and features that YOU prefer. |

Yeah the BX one is all black with black hardware, looks great.......ten lug kick drum, hardware etc does look good...........only problem is ddrum kit is new on e-bay so I can't physically see it........PDP is at the local drum shop
All the kits I've had over the years have been Birch, I've never owned a Maple kit.........only ever seen the Punx series and I wasn't that impressed with the build of those..........PDP retails for $1999 Aus dollars at the shop for $1599..........which I can get lower ddrum kit is starting on e-bay for $800 with shipping looking at nearly $1000 if no one else bids.........looks wise PDP looks way better.........hard to know, just wondered what people thought of the ddrum Dominion...........heard good things about PDP as well |

Seems like everyone is talking about quality issues with the ddrums in general; especially with their bearing edges. It sounds like the Pdp is a pretty clear cut choice to me. I say get the pdp. They look sexy as anything and I haven't heard many negative things.

PDP has some flaws, but they do for the most part have no problem beating out D-drum's quality. D-drum's shells suck, period. They don't have the technology to produce their own higher quality shells, so in their full on custom shop they use Keller. Of the which Keller makes some of the best to say the least.

Ironically I bought a ddrum ash pocket kit and sold it about two weeks later.....it wasn't for me, the tom mount makes it feel very unstable and thus gives a lot of movement....the kit looks good but lacked that sound, which I guess you are not going to get for those $$$
I bit the bullet and bought a secondhand Pearl Masterworks

I play on a PDP BX, I bought it in London and all I can tell you is that if you put new heads on it, Its better than the DWs!
