I think I have to mention the brush grooving in "Shapes"...sounds so modern and innovative.

Excellent drumming there for sure. And I wonder if that Rhodes piano will ever go out of style. From the Doors, to the theme song from Taxi, that piano stays alive. Great Stuff.

No...I guess it won`t go out of style too fastly. I hear it various times in different styles...and love its sound again and again. For me it almost beats the good ol Hammond. Almost. =)

This is the exact reason why I play a 4 piece kit, to hopefully be able to rip it up like he does on one. Excellent videos.

A few days ago there was shown a documentation about Wolfgang Haffner on WDR. He told about his life and highlights, musicians who influenced him, projects...

Hey friends, trust me...this guy is such a realistic, nice and incredibly great musician. he has so much fun and it is so easy and awesome to listen to him and his philosophy. Surely an amazing drummer, musician and person.

Of course he was also critical about some things he experienced and all this documentation really inspired and helped me.

Wolfgang is the man.

2 drummers I would most like to meet:

Wolfgang Haffner and Jo Jo Mayer. Their sense of groove and musicality is second too none.

Smokin'!!!!! Man I love that. Fluid like quicksilver. Thanks Bernhard for the new video. Very Inspiring. I love his work with Chuck Loeb. Is that cloth and aluminum foil he has taped on his mounted tom??

Check damned youtube about Christian Prommer's Drumlesson, it's mostly with Wolfgang.

Album is out since a few weeks. I've seen them live two weeks ago and all I would say, that's just brilliant.

I slowed it down. It is cloth and aluminum foil but it wasn't his tom. Is he playing 10 and 16inch toms? The double bass really blends it all in together to sound like a much bigger kit. That is inspirational and seems a good idea to get out of rut in your playing. Reducing to two toms could have just as stimulating and innovating effect on your playing as having six toms. Maybe add one tom at a time and really explore the musicality of your instrument.
