Default Istanbul Mehmets..what do you know?

i've got an 18" paperthin crash that i absolutely love (no other markings so i'll assume it's Traditional).

i'm considering buying a 16" to match from Vintagedrum.com or another online source, and looking at a medium-thin (taking a stab based only on the sound clips i've found...i know it's sketchy).

are all Mehmets known to be more trashy than other brands? what are these known most for?

Check out Cymbalsonly.com. They have a number of Mehmets and Agops and sound files of the actual cymbal for sale.

I use Istanbul Agop cymbals but have read many times on the net that the cymbals produced by Istanbul Mehmet after the split of the then Istanbul cymbal company after Agops accidental death in 96 are known for being more clean sounding than the trashier and more complex sounding Istanbul Agop cymbals. Being that i've never side by side tested my current Agops with similar current model Istanbul Mehmets I can't say for sure if this is true myself but I have a feeling they might have some close similarities to my old 80's pre-split Istanbuls. Very pleased with my interesting and complex in character hand made Agops for sure that much I know.

Hello i use and play generally Istanbul Mehmet.
I can say only that they have very bad promotion for their cymbals but the cymbals are amazing and for me the best ever.

I play this setup:
1.x jazz 13,5 club hats(all purpose hats with medium heavy bottom and medium top, best hi hat for me ever for all kind of music, maybe especially not for jazz, more for rock, pop and even harder music).i dont know why they called so,this is mistake with incorrect names of the cymbals, they must do better promotion because nobody knows about it

2.X Cast 20 Medium Ride with big, clear and low pitch bell, and pingi body,i use it for the club gigs and i ordered 21 inch X cast heavy ride for more ping for all pop rock situations,i didnt find so good sounding ride by other companys

3.X jazz 18 ride-crash,perfect ride for all clubs situations except mettal

4.Mehmet Legend 19 ride-crash,very dry and quiter ride cymbal with vintage orientation-this is Mel Lewis model, for my jazz gigs only, but strong crash in other situations too

5.Radiant Ping ride 20,amazing ping ride, very bright sounding, better then my former zildjian k heavy ride, but not better then X cast heavy ride

6.Radiant rock hats 13-very loud and with nice clear projection, but i prefer x jazz club hats-they sounds for me better

7.Radiant rock crash 14 and 16,good crashes, but i am waiting for x cast and nostalgia crash models,i prefer thin crashes with dark and clear sound and fast response

8.Radiant china 15-nice trashy china with stronger projection

9.Radiant splashes 8 and 10-Amazing better than my former a customs

Istanbul Mehmet makes very good cymbals, but they makes something wrong with their promotion and all names of cymbals that you can not understand for what kind of music they are.But best cymbals for me ever.
