Occasionally I leave my mouth wide open when I play. I hate that. I try to compensate by closing my mouth tightly when I become aware of this.

This is a very funny thread.
I constantly make faces. My wife said my face looks like one of a male porn star at the apex of his scene!!!!!! My face is constantly contorting. I don't care though. I am having fun and could care less what others think!! I don't know how Neil Peart keeps a straight face. That is why I love watching Portnoy!! The guy gets into it!!

Haha, apparently I look like I'm having the orgasm of a lifetime, or I just got kicked in the crotch when I play XD
Yeah man, I find that if I'm not making faces, I'm not diggin the music, so faces are a good thing! It adds character to your playing

I don't do this but I think it looks SO STUPID when people's lower jaw gets offset to varying degrees according to the complexity of what they're playing. And I've seen it in quite a few people! This one guy gets an under-right bite when he plays.

Yup, Pixie. Like Nebula, I get a real slack jawed look when I play, and manage to look remarkably stupid. Thats when I'm with my inner drummer too.

i make a lot of faces too, i open my mouth a lot...
i had the fortune of taking a class with kenwood dennard and i remember after one class.. a guy asked if he made a lot of faces.. and he said that a lot of drummers seem as if they're suffering.... others have no emotion at all.. but he said that if you're layin down a great groove, your face should seem as if you're smelling a fish... he's a funny guy |

Sadly I am apparently expressionless when playing, apart from a slight frown as if trying to intimidate the kit into submission!! The more into the playing I get, the blanker I look!!
Doesnt mean that Im not dancing inside tho.....

This is so funny, when ever I watch a drummer I watch his hands and feet. Now I am going to look as their faces more thanks to this thread and I am going to pull my mirror in front of my kit and look at myself play. After some of these coments I would really love to see your faces LOL.
Jon Cable you are a riot! "Sadly I am apparently expressionless when playing, apart from a slight frown as if trying to intimidate the kit into submission!! " Pinner

I open my mouth a bit. Trying to stop that. Faces are one thing but slack jawed just makes me look a little short on brains.
