Usualy "cheap" drum kits like that have just regular ply wood. You might lucky out and have poplar, which is decent for "high end" starter kits. I'd say best bet is to call, or to take it to the local music store who deals with them. Also, somewhere like homedepot might be able to tell. Good Luck :D

According to the CB Drums "Catalogue"
they are 9 ply cross laminated mahogany shells. It isn't the mahogany your coffee table is made out of though!
"Certain deep red timbers from South East Asia are sold as a 'Mahogany', or 'Mahogany Finish' although they are not true Mahogany from USA or Honduras. It’s most likely called mahogany due either its common appearance (dark red) or due to the nature of the forestation being depleted and the stigma attached to it. Asian 'Philippine Mahogany' is often sourced from the endangered Dipterocarp forests of Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines. Dependant on the source tree the timber types are often known as Meranti, Lauan and Keruing. Hence the name Philippine mahogany." (from http://home.earthlink.net/~prof.sound/id14.html)
"Many cheap drum sets are made with the cheaper mahogany that is commonly found on hollow doors. " (from http://www.drumjunction.com/drum_shells.html)

CB's arent total trash now. If you tune them right, they can sound decent for such a low end set. Back when i had my CB, it sounded alright with them ambasadors on em.

I always that it was poplar not mahogony. Guess im wrong ;D

They are made from CB trees...

not all of the Philippine mahogany kits sound bad. I think this depends on how well the drums are constructed and bearing edges. Kits like Gretsch Catalinas for example are not all that bad and there are drums out there like Pearl Exports with poplar, maple, and birch shells that still aren't that great.
