Default Something between emperors and pinstripes

I need something a bit thicker and fatter sounding for my saturns. I have g2s on just now and they are thin sounding-. Do aquarian make anything between traditional emperor and pinstripe thicknesses?

i dont want a dead head i like overtones and clarity etc but on my saturns the g2s make it sound like terry bozzios toms..really thin.

Dude, im loving "Lead Back", very dreamtheatre-esque. The intro to inside is pretty well done as well. How do you have your drums tuned? Cuz even G2s will sound thin at higher tunings, let 'em hang loose and enjoy.

Personally I would suggest Fiberskyn Ambassadors. These have a feel in between single and double ply and have a nice warm sound. They do make your drums sound bigger or can be tuned really high too but never sound thin. They are more sensitive than two ply heads but have no plastic overtones.

I'd say if you drop your tuning a little it will give you that sound you are looking for. Pay close attention to how tight your reso's are as well as that will have a dramatic effect on how your kit sounds. I'd play with the tuning before I invest in thicker heads, you'll loose your resonance the thicker you go.

It's all in the tuning, Brainy. If you want a fat sound, tune the resonant head to its lowest resonant (open, clear and steady) note, and the batter a third or a fourth below that. Should you want less sustain, loosen both heads ever so slightly. I can achieve very fat tom sounds with "just" coated Ambassador batters and clear Diplomat resos.
