Default Double bass stave kit in the process

Busy week we will have.

This one will be two (2) 20'' x 18'' x 1/2'' bass drum. 10'' x 8'' x 1/2'' tom, 12'' x 10'' x 1/2'' tom, 14'' x 12'' x 1/2'' floor tom and 16'' x 14'' x 1/2'' floor tom.

Maybe there will be a snare but not even the future owner knows in what it will be made yet.

Exceedingly cool. How many staves? Looks like these have fewer staves. Will they look more "stavey" or will you lathe them down?

They are unlaved in the pics. Tamburo is the only company I know of that makes stave drums and leaves them in their decagon (or however many sides they have) shape, but as a result have to use a plastic bearing edge. I think they're called the Opera series of something, a member here has a kit.

That`s exciting, can`t wait to see the final result! The finish is beautiful in my opinion, always liked fade and burst finishes. Do you paint brush the drums by yourself? From what wood are the drums made and how many hours does it roughly take to make such a kit?

And how much would be one?

Karl

looking pretty sweet so far, what hardware's going on?

I personally like the look of that finish a lot, a bit better and natural looking than the burst on the kit you took to the bazar

looking forward to the finished product!

I took a glance at the first photo and went: "Damn, that's one deep bass drum!"

Frank,

You are a wonderful craftsman, and friend. Hello members. This kit is my dream kit, and I am ecstatic that I had the good fortune to find Frank at Unix to build it for me.

My best,

J. R. Baker

This is going to be a very beautiful kit. Well done to the proud owner. And well done to the builder. The name inside the shells is a nice touch.

I'd recommend a matching snare. Or even two - a left side effects snare would round off this full-stave kit beautifully.

katman,

I will have Frank post a picture of the Tigerwood snare he built for me, and, I also won one in a contest, so I do have two!

Be well,

@J.R. Baker: you have good taste! Not a big fan of double bass kits myself but the finish is droolworthy!

@Unix: another marvellous job! Hopefully one day I can order a kit from you myself :)

I had the privilege to tune that kit at the drumfest booth, it sounded Soooo good, so easy to tune too. The best is the projection the kit had, after the show i went running to my jam room the compare with my own kit, i cried...
The sound quality of those drums are only match by the finish Frank is putting on them!
