Holy drums everywhere, Batman!! I don't even have as much time to play mine as I'd like to, let alone attempt to make my own custom drums!!

Awesome!! But....wow, you must have an awful lot of time and patience!

Wow, that's big. I almost get the feeling you have to compensate for something ;-).

Are you still comfortable playing that monster?

Those look incredible. What an amazing project. Building a 4-piece yourself is already an achievement. But yours is a whole new ballgame. Well done.

Are they keller maple shells? I notice a re-ring in the close-up of the tom. Also, how did you achieve that finish? Is it some kind of lauqer over a stain?

Once again, great job.

P.S. More pics would always be welcome :) Also, what are the sizes?

I'd say that kit needs more cowbell.

They sound awesome and they play even better. When I first started building. It took about a day to finish a drum but now that I am a little better at it, it took me about two days to finish the whole thing. That's not including the finish. The finish took a little while longer because it's a couple coats of lacquer so it needed time to dry.

Ya know it's really hard to hit the 18" that's way in the back. I was even considering making the 20" a floor tom too but them I said... naaaaa... I will just hang it.

Yes maple. The finish is actually three coats of really old lacquer. It's really cool because it almost looks gold when you get really close.

I am compensating for my car size. hahaha. I am actually even more comfortable playing this than a regular three piece. It's like being inside a doll house. I feel safe. I don't know if that makes sence...

It takes up about 11'x11'. I don't gig with it. When I play out, I just take two bass drums and two floor toms, and that is still a pain in the ass lugging around.

Yes, I think he's trying to compensate for people who have too few drums on their sets. This balances things karmically for people with four-pieces who lack enough drums!

Good lord. I'm guessing you got a building permit and contractors to help you along the way with that thing huh? I promise you that if someone ever broke into your house, that set would be the only thing they'd leave, #1 because they don't have that sort of time on their hands and #2 in order to show some respect to your belongings.

Awesome! Seems inspired by Neil Peart, except for the cymbal set-up. Nice octobans, too.

With that many toms, what is the tuning like between the toms? Seems to me like it could be a very melodic drum set.

Next time you play try throwing a ball near those things, i think its big enough to have its own frickin gravitational field. Thats huge!!! and only 2 days??? I'm assuming you bought the shells elsewhere then and strapped everything on, or worked for 48 straight hours.

Okay, you can't tell anyone, but I had a little help with the shells. Just a little. I did the drilling, the sizing, the finish, the assembly, and all the rest of the custom stuff myself.

Put it this way...With this kit, all the flats basically have sharps. It goes C, C sharp, C sharp flat. lol

Yes, they are wood. Keller makes 18" ones that are regular ply and then they make longer ones that are pieced together differently so they won't resonate the same. I think the longer ones are up to 24".
