Default Adjusting Double Bass Pedals / Iron Cobra

I'm having trouble finding the sweet spot for my pedals.
What is a good starting point. What's the philosophy for the following: (setting and how it would react).
1) Angle of beater shaft
2) beater height
3) Spring tension
4) Pedal angle

Is there a method what what to adjust first?

Everyone has a different preferences, but maybe with that I can find it!

Thanks,
Rick

Far back enough to allow a sufficiently powerful stroke for your genre/playing style. Not so far you get whacked in the leg.

Centered for thud without overtones, off center (lower, usually) for a quicker stroke, and more overtones.

Depends. If you slide, heavier tension will hurt you, otherwise, a little tension makes for a faster return. I find a little tension keeps the beater from flailing around and accidentally contacting the head. At some point, more tension will slow you down and tire you excessively, and less tension will not return the beater fast enough.

Adjust to comfort, I like it fairly flat, but with enough motion left to drive the beater into the head firmly.

I'd get the beater angle/height roughly adjusted, so the point of impact is OK, and I'm not bludgeoning my shin. Maybe pedal angle next, again roughly, and then tension. Then go back and fine-tune.
