are texture coated super kick 1 heads thicker than normal texture coated Aquarian heads? i'm using 22 inch aquarian texture coated with evans eq3 black reso with a cushion inside. they sound REALLY good, but there are some problems with a bit too much overtones, so i want to switch to something muffled, but i don't want anything thicker. what do you think about using Texture Coated Super Kick 1 with Regulator without hole and no additional muffling? i'm looking for warm and quite quick sound for drum'n'bass meeting jazz.

I don't know if it's technically thicker, but if it is, it's nothing noticeable. The SK1 is muffled so that will cut down your overtones and the coating will do so too, as well as add some extra warmth. It should be fine for what you're looking for.

They are very much the same (both mylar is 10 mil thick and add the coating thickness), the difference reside in the SK felt muffling ring. This is what you'll need if you want to kill some overtone.
For you second question... ![]() ![]() BOOM !!!

The SK 1´s are IMO way too muffled for my taste. My SK 1 turned my bass drum into a cardboard box, even with a non-ported reso head and no muffling inside. But I love the texture coated, great heads. The Jack DeJohnette sig heads are great bass drum heads. Same thickness as TC but the coating is slightly thicker, making it a bit more muffled and warmer.
