I've had my heads for a year (They are the original heads that was on my CB drums" There just CD heads that say remo on them/ or there remo heads that say CD with them, take it either way") And now that I'm getting into drumming a little more Im gonna most likely upgrade my drums. I was gonna buy a new crash cymbal, but decided heads are much more needed. Anyways O've had the same drum heads since i got the drums And I was just wondering if I should invest the money and buy new heads, or wait untill they turn to mush before buying some new ones. I play pretty hard and I play around 30-60 minutes each day and some heads have dents in them. (Not huge dents but dents non the least). The batter (Sorry if its not called batter, its either batter or coating I forget) is coming off, ETC. So anyways sorry for the huge paragraph, but should I get new heads or just keep the ones I got? |

Get the new ones right away. Nothing displeases the drum gods more than stock heads. You'll be amazed at the improvement in sound quality.
Now, which heads you decide on are entirely up to you and what your ears want. |

Year old stock heads I'd say it's definately time to replace them. I'd actually replace the top and bottom heads, they are both worn out. You'll be amazed at the sound difference once you get the new ones on and tuned.

I actually dont use the bottom heads, because I find that they sound better. But I have gay tastes so that doesnt matter. I will most likely get remo heads since I'm not to sure what other heads sound like and all that.

if you have problems with drums sounding bad with bottom heads on, buy a set of plastic dampening rings. they are called e-rings (evans) or o-rings (remo) and cost a few bucks. you'll find that your sound quality is increased immensely as they get rid of nasty overtones.
and as for the heads themselves, my personal recommendation/preference is: remo coated emperor on snare batter remo clear ambassador on snare resonant remo clear pinstripe on tom batters remo ebony ambassador on tom resonants remo ebony ambassador on bass batter remo coated ambassador on bass resonant ^i know the bass heads sound weird, but i get an incredible sound out of them |
