Default Bosphorus Soundbytes

Here is an mp3 I made of my Bosphorus cymbals.

15" Masters Hi-hat
19" Antique Thin Ride
10" Antique Splash
21" Turk Med-Thin Ride
18" Antique Med-Thin Crash
20" Stanton Moore Trash Crash

I wasn't talking loud enough and because the mics of my Zoom H4 were a few feet away, my voice didn't get picked up enough. I tried to raise it the best I could in editing but you still may have to turn up the volume a bit.

Enjoy!

Well done!. An interesting and diverse sounding collection of fine cymbals.

Very nice FSD! Each cymbal has its own distinct flavor, but they also sound great together as a set. It re-affirms what I've always said about Bosphorus--I've heard some that I don't personally care for, but I've never heard one that sounded BAD.

Same here. I've owned a few that shortly after getting them I either sold them or traded them back if I was in the 7 day period that Cymbals Only offers, and I did it because the cymbals just didn't fit with my setup, not because they sounded bad. On the contrary, they sounded great. I had a 20" Traditional China that I only used for about 24 hours and it sounded amazing, but it just didn't fit in with my setup.

That stanton moore trash crash sounds like a garbage lid its so trashy lol, But overall nice selection my friend, I own a bosphorus trad ride and ive looked into the aintiques for the lathe/non lathed aspect and your mp3 really provides a demo of the characteristic that the cymbal has.

Nice recording too, you using that same little h4 thing?

The Stanton Moore has more tone than a garbage can lid :) It is very trashy, but I like that you can ride it too.

Yup it was recorded with the Zoom H4.

I liked the 20" Stanton Moore Trash Crash. Quite unique and lots of character. Not my choice of cymbal for the type of music I play but I can see it fitting into other musical situations creating a interesting voice in the music. And yes I can hear the ride effect too with it.

In regard to fourstringdrums no more than what i've seen with regards to other happy owners of other brands of fine hand made Turkish cymbals on the site IMO. I wonder who one of those other happy vocal owners of Turkish made cymbals may be? LOL!.

...don't you have a set with quite a few demolished ZBT's? Your comment only shows your inexperience, your age, and your maturity (or lack there of).

I assume what you meant to say was "Why do you like Bosphorus so much? I've noticed on the forum that you've mentioned them quite a bit, and you seem to really have a thing for them. To me, cymbals are just cymbals, so I'm just curious as to what makes them so great".

Doesn't that sound better than how you rudely and immaturely put it?

I usually only talk about Bosphorus in thread where someone wants a recommendation. Bosphorus are my cymbal of choice, so of course I'm going to recommend them, just in the way that someone would recommend Zildjian or Sabian. To me, because of their hand hammered nature, Bosphorus have a uniqueness and character that you don't get from most other brands of cymbals. It takes experience in playing the instrument and trying many cymbals to know what you're looking for in a cymbal and to be able to hear the differences between cymbals, as they are not all sonically created equal. In all my years of playing the instrument, I know what I want to hear, and Bosphorus gives me that. I also like to be a bit more unique in what I play, and it's nice playing a hand made cymbal that is unique to even an identical size and model, and not a cookie cutter cymbal like you get from most brands.

When you've been playing for a while longer, you may start to understand more.

Calm down Maaaaaaaaaannnn....

Nah, Im joking, Im going to side with you on this one Rob.

Bosphorus cymbals have impressed me.
Lots.

I just bought one, and Intend to get more.

I would rather buy the £150 Bos trad hats than £400 K hats, but the Bos sound so great I would buy them if they cos double the price of the K's.

The ridiculous value of Bos is one thing, but the sound is another - in a word - Fantastic...

So, tooldrums1000, next time you decide to use your keyboard, use it with more care....

Very nice! I compliment you on your good taste. And your kit sounds great too.
Can I share my fabulous score here? A friend of mine is working a cruise ship in the Mediterranean and just chose some Bosphorus from the factory in Istanbul for me. I wanted something for small gigs and to complement my GoKit. He got me (based on sound files and weights I gave him) 12" turkish hats, 17" Antique crash (very rideable also) and an 18" masters flat ride. I'm just trying to wait patiently until he's back in a US port in Nov. to ship them to me. The prices couldn't have been better. As he said "Yea Turkey!"

d000d wot iz up wiv ur snar hed? liek ch4ng it alreedy!

No really. Cymbals are a thing of great beauty and these kind of cymbals are truly one-of-a-kind creations. It takes a certain discerning ear to be able to see that and clearly, yours aren't up to it.

Very nice. I had a set of 12" Turk hats that were wonderful. I sold them to a member here.
