Default My new Yamaha Birch kit!

My babies: Yamaha Birch Custom Absolutes in Blue Sparkle. These puppies showed up on my doorstep 3 weeks ago.

Everything is brand new except snare, cymbals, and throne...

Kit is as follows:
Kick: 22x18 with EQ4 Clear
Snare: 6.5x14 with G2 coated and Hazy 300
Toms: 10x8, 12x9, 14x12, 16x14 with G2 clear on batter and G1 clear on resonant

Hi-Hat: 14" AAX Stage hats
Ride: 21" HH Raw Bell Dry
Crashes: 16" and 17" HHX Evolution
China: Wuhan 16"
Hardware: everything top of the line Yamaha and DW 9002

Enjoy the pics!

These drums are a dream to play on. They feel and respond superbly and just sound killer!. The sound, quality, hardware durability, looks, and attention to detail were worth every penny.

A very nice setup, but I mostly say that because you have the exact same drum sizes and head selections as my newest favorite drummer, Kris Myers of the band Umphrey's McGee. He plays Sabian, too, but different models. You don't happen to be a fan of his, do you?

Umphrey's McGee is some sick stuff, although I didn't base my kit off of Myers.

It's a great ride man. Great stick definition with some nice wash and a cutting bell to die for.

However, it is a heavy ride so you really can't lay into it. Definitely not a crash/ride.

I'm considering adding another ride to my setup. Something like an HHX Groove or Evolution ride. But I'll still keep my HH in the mix!

What snare isn't loud, right? Well...this one is LOUD. The head selection I use and a moongel just barely on the drum really kills. It sounds awesome mic'd up.

Awesome!
Love the sizes and sparkle. Can't beat the Yamaha "fit & finish".
I have the same kit, only in Beech, and Gold Fade sparkle.
How are you finding tuning with the Nouveau lugs? I find it a bit difficult, due to the fact that I can't get the "finger tight" starting point due to the tension on the rods.
What's your starting process for tuning?
Cheers
Phil

I think the Nouveau lugs were designed for you to put your index finger in the indentation and push up on the lug and tighten to the point where the tension rod and washer make contact and don't wiggle.

The kit looks awesome! Love blue sparkle. How do you like the Aviom system? I really enjoy using it.

I love the Aviom setup. It is so easy to setup and use. It may sound a little unorthodox but I love being able to pan both guitarists in my band separately into both ears.

Skin man: both floor toms are hanging/mounted floor toms

fijjibo: I'm really digging the 9000s. I'm still working on my perfect settings...
