Default Anybody Sell A Kit To Guitar Center Or Sam Ash.

I was thinking about this option instead of the hassle of e-bay. What do you think they would offer me for a perfect condition Tama Starclassic performer kit(8pc shells only) sizes 8,10,12,14,16 floor,18 floor,22 bass, 14 snare drum. Not much I'm sure. Over 3000 dollars worth of drums I bet I'd be lucky to get a 1000 dollar offer from them. I may stop in both those places just to see what they say. So far to my surprise I've had no luck on craigslist or this forum. Don't you think my asking price of 1300 is a steal for this kit??? I thought so. I'll bet you can't find a bigger top of the line kit at a lower price.I did get quite a few e-mail responses but they all semmed like scammers to me. You have to be careful of that. Anyhoo, would appreciate anybody's comments on wether I need to come down on price to unload these things. I thought I was already at a low ball figure.

$1300 is a great deal for that set, but if it's in excellent condition you really should be expecting more like $1700 or so. I honestly would consider Ebay or trying to sell them locally rather than a music store, especially a large store like GC or Sam Ash. You would get a very insulting amount for the kit. I don't even think they'd offer you the $1300. I was told that usually a store will give you half of what they could sell it for so if they felt that they could sell it for $1800, you'd only get $900 or so out of the deal and that's not worth it.

Yeah, like Rob mentioned, they have to be able to resell it and make a good profit on it, so you won't be getting anywhere near what you'd get going eBay/Craigslist/etc. As much of a hassle as it is, it's probably worth the few hundred extra bucks you'd be making.

If they offer you more than 500 dollars.......consider it a lot.

Go to GC, ask for the drum manager. Arrange to take away/buy shipping boxes to fit your drums. Put the kit on eBay. Send it to the winning bidder. Profit.

Not my kit. My kit is posted in the Indy area.Everytime I get an offer by e-mail it's from somebody at yahoo.com who lives far away wanting to buy the kit for somebody else and pay with cashiers check. Sounds like a scammer to me. That's why I posted on craigslist. So I can find a LOCAL buyer who can meet face to face and pay CASH. Seriously though I may have to break down and put these on e-bay. I've just never sold anything on there and really don't know how to go about it.Never knew it would be so much trouble selling a great kit that I'm offering for 1/3 of the original price. Here's a pic minus the 14 " tom and 14" snare.

I've sold a few kits through Ebay so if you need any help, let me know.

You didn't mention if you tried dead tree media - local and weekly newspapers, Thrifty Nickel, etc. Spending $50 on local advertising would be worth it if you're talking about a few grand on the table.

Avoid selling it to Guitar Center at all costs. You'd be lucky to get a fifth of what you'd get finding a willing local buyer.

I have to second that, go and pack up the drums now, so when somebody takes it on ebay at least you do not have to run around looking for shipping boxes.
Seem to me with all those drums you probably can put the 14" and the 10" tom into the 18" and the the 12" tom and the 8 " tom into the 16" tom.
Then put the snare inside the bass drum and you end up with 3 boxes.
Weigh every box write down the weight and measurement of each box, go to UPS or FEDEX Ground and ask how much it would cost to send those within the US.
You can do it, just put enough bubble wrap between the toms, insure the shipment too.
For shipping cost on ebay you write something like Shipping via UPS depends on location between $125-$150 US only.
That what it will cost to ship it. (just a guess) Pass that on to the buyer.
Put them on ebay.

I do the "nesting tom" packing job too, but you need to have cardboard wedged in between the drums if possible. When I shipped my Renowns I did both bubble wrap AND cardboard and because of mishandling, the bass drum still got damaged from the floor tom packed inside.
