Default 50Th Anniversary Coated Ambassador

I just replaced my Evans G1 "Snare"Coated. It has been upgraded to a Remo 50Th Anniversary Coated Ambassador. The difference is unbelievable. Overall quality is better then the Evans. The coating looks and feels better (I only hope it last). The attack is killer but its the sound that needs no introduction. I also will be replacing the toms from Evans G2 coated to Remo Clear Ambassadors with the 26" kick receiving a Remo Powersonic 3 clear if the UPS man ever gets here(Ha Ha). After hearing the beautiful warm snare sound with the Remo 50Th Anniversary I'm very glad to be back with Remo. Remo has been my head of choice since the early 80's. The Evans heads that are being replaced are the only other brand I have bought in my life. I have played Evans and many others on stage and studios only on house drum sets that were provided with there own sponsors of choice. Evans seems like the new head for the new generation of head hitters. For me, my ears and heart have brought me home... "A man travels the world in search of what he is looking for. He returns home to find it".

You do know the 50th Anniversary Ambassador is just a plain old 10mil medium weight Coated Ambassador.

You should check out the Vintage "A", which is made the original way an Ambassador was made which was 2 thin plies of mylar instead of 1 medium weight ply.

Too bad they don't make other sizes of the Vintage A.

I agree the vintage Ambassador is also a great head but the overall quality of Remo is starting to come back from what I'm hearing and seeing in there new line of heads.

Even if they do, the old heads are still out there. The heads I got a few months ago had a date of 2002 on the box.

I never had an issue with their single ply heads. It was always the 2 ply ones that weren't right.
