Default My Set

Well here's my set. My favorite thing about my set is the snare drum, I put an evan power center reverse dot head on it and it sounds amazing. There is stuff I got to change but don't got the money, like change the tom and bass heads and buy some cymbals.

Yamaha Rydeen:
22" x 16" bass drum-stock head
12" x 9" and 13" x 9-1/2" toms- stock head
16" x 16" floor tom- stock head
5-1/2" x 14" wood snare-Evan Power Center Reverse Dot head

Looks like a good kit, what type of music do you play? Are you in a band?

Yeah, stocks heads are a b*tch. Evans makes good heads, though, may I recommend the clear g2 for toms and eq3 for the kick? I have pretty much the same-level kit, and good heads can make all the difference for the sound.

Oh, also check these out:

http://www.rtom.com/

They're called "moongels", they dampen drums and are much more reliable than duct tape. Cheap (4 for around $8 USD), adjustable (cut them down to size for less dampening), sticky so they don't come off your drums, and when they get dirty just soap/water 'em and they're almost new. And I don't know about you but I think it looks better than duct tape.

Ya, I'm just not sure what head would fit the type of music I play. I play mostly gospel =).

Like I said above I play mostly gospel music and some other stuff. I play the childrens choir at my church and I was part of a two bands at school (Jazz band and Samba band) that I will probably join again when I go back in September.

ya, I hate my stock heads. So hard to get the sound I want from them, and when I do get the sound my snare drum starts buzzing. I will look into the drum heads you mentioned. For some reason my bass drum sounds different today.

The duct tape is there temporarily until I get new heads. If I do need to dampen the sound of the toms after i get the heads I will probably buy the moon gel.

I'm thinking about making it into a 4 piece set eventually. I prefer ride over the bass drum, makes the ride easier to play.

I myself have the exact same kit, color and everything. if you slap some good evans heads on there it will sound like a kit that so much more expensive. i actually love this kit and its lasted me forever. i remember when i did have to stocks on it it sounded bad and i could quite get them tuned, plus they ended up denting a couple weeks in. but its all ni what we can afford. good luck with the kit.

Sabian Solar. Hi-hat 14", and 18" crash ride. They came with the set. Planning on buying new ones eventually.
