Way cool.
I'm going to add this to my index of hardware mods at http://www.drummerworld.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=23501 if you don't mind. This is a neat way to re-use a stand for a different drum. |

A fan of Peart?
I thinks yes..... What make is the cradle you are using? How stable is it with such a large drum? |

wow what a great idea! I'd love to hear a sound clip of that thing. Now I gotta keep an eye out for an extra bass drum...

How do you have it tuned and what's the sound like?

It's sort of like Krupa's 20" Floor tom as it's not really a gong drum. Just a big fun thing to have I suppose.

I get more of a Tim Alexander feel from your kit more than anything. I love it!

Gotta love a gong drum. I really enjoy the 2 that I have. Before I got my 2 current kits I had been wanting one forever when I saw Simon Phillips and Tim Alexander use them.
The Pork Pie gong is a 18x16 shell with a 20in head , the DW is a 21x16 with a 22in head. Great idea using the Djembe stand!! ![]()
