Default Is it safe to say? (DW 5000 pedal DW 9000 pedal)

So I've been searching about the DW 5000 pedal and the DW 9000 pedal. Some say the extra cash is not worth it, or does not seem to be worth it. Some who have "uprgraded" are please, some are not. But from what I have seen, there has not been any negative comments about the 5000, so would it be safe to say that the 5000 is the choice? Or should I search some more and think more about the 9000? Thanks for your guys' inputs.

Before anyone says it, I have went to my music store and tested both of them side by side, and I still can't decide.

I think the choice is clear. If you can't detect any difference between the pedals, get the one that's cheaper.

Like I've said before, I played the 5002 for ten years with only one broken spring. They were great pedals. I play the 9002 now and think they are a step up. My 5002's were single chain though, so I don't know how the double-chain 5002's compare. The thing I like about the 9000's is the adjustability. Plus, don't pay full price. I paid $300 for mine brand new. I just saw some yesterday for $300 on ebay (they're gone now). I don't think you can go wrong with either though.

I've never played the 9000, but I have a 5000 Nylon Strap and it's honestly the best pedal I've ever used. Smooth, rock solid, simple, but easy to adjust. No frills, just a great pedal.

I'll agree with Wavelength. If one pedal is not "winning" in your A/B tests, pick the DW 5000 because it's more affordable. More or endless adjustability is a moot point if you can't use it/don't need it.

i haven't tried a lot of pedals but i have the dw5000 turbo and its great, very smooth and quick. its definitely a safe choice... buying the 9000 wont make you better or make technique/chops develop faster.

...I have both the 9000, and the 5000, single pedals, and hihat stands.

I find that the 9000 pedal, with the beater raised as high as I can raise it is about a half an inch or so shorter than the 5000 with it's beater extended fully. This height is right about the center of my 24" bass drum, but I like the beater to strike a little bit higher. That is my only complaint about the 9000. Other than that, I would have a hard time choosing one exclusively over the other. If DW had a beater with the shaft about an inch longer, I would give the nod to the 9000.

I love the 9000 hihat stand, and would choose it hands down over the 5000.

Barry

...after posting this, I went to the DW website, and low and behold, there is a longer beater available.

Looks like the 9000 gets the nod.

There is a very apparent feeling difference between the 5 and the 9. I played the 5 Double for a long time and recently upgraded to the 9 and I feel that it requires me to put less force into my playing...which I personally like.
