Default Pearl forums

I recently registered on the Pearl forums, and they have a weird process where your account has to go through some kind of manual validation. It's been quite a while now and I haven't been able to get activated. I'm just curious is this has happened to anyone else. They also don't seen to respond to the email address they supply for inquiries.

I was on there once.

I never signed up, I just looked.

I found a thread where people were bad-mouthing DW forums, saying that the moderation is "like a playschool of babysitters" and insulting Bernhard.

Its safe to say Ill never go there again.

I haven't see this on the site, but, I haven't been on there for very long.

I am in the same boat as Strix Varia, however. I registered a while ago & am still in the "moderation queu". Normally, when I've registered on a forum the activation happens within a couple of days. It has been a couple of weeks or better.

Is the forum actually affiliated to the Pearl Drums Corporation?

Or is it like a Fan Forum?

DRUMMERWORLD.COM FOREVER!!!!
At the top and bottom of the Pearl forums main page it states that the forums are an extension of the Pearl US website. They have forums for new product information and for product help (they call it "first aid"). Many of the forums are categorized by the model of drums you have, ie "Masters series", "Export series".

It certainly appears to be affilliated with Pearl.

Yes, its their official Forum. I personally like it - it's not bad and there's good people over there (and some bad).

I've had the same experience. Registered several weeks ago or more and still no word. Doesn't break my heart but seems rather stupid.

The Pearl Drummers Forum is owned and operated by Pearl employees. Nathan aka "Hook" is the admin there. He heads up the web services and is highly involved in the marketing department. Gene Okomoto is Pearl's product specialist based in Nashville, he is there to answer any questions about Pearl product. At times he plays the role of customer service specialist and gets problems with Pearl product fixed. Whether it's a faulty product, shipping issue, etc... he gets it fixed.

All of the moderators there are fair guys and treat each and every forum member with respect. If you act out, don't expect to be there long. It's quite simple really.

There are a few bad apples but most just ignore them. Some have been suspended and are back, but I can see them being removed permanently soon.

A few other Pearl employees based in Nashville also cruise the forums. AR guys etc...

They also have quite a few endorsers pop by the forums here and there. I'd have to say the one endorser that shows up more than others is Adrian Erlandersson ex-Cradle of Filth drummer.

I'm a PDF regular and never had any problem. It's has it's up & down and since I behave in a respectful way member's there were always respectful toward me.

I know they recently experienced many spammers registration. It seem they took action to improve the quality of the site.

It took me a month to get through the registration queue.

It's worth noting that although they do have forums for specific Pearl products (and the first aid mentioned above) they also have a general discussion board which is lively and in no way limited to Pearl products, nor do you get banned if you say you don't like them.

The clientele is--how to say it?--a bit younger than that here, I suspect.

Last time I checked, the PDF had over 30,000 members so they must be doing something right over there.

It seems like a very good forum. However I have been having the same problems with it. It will not allow me to post. I have been registered for weeks. If anyone who is a member might be willing to pm a moderator on the site, we may be able to bring it to their attention.

Thanks,
Jeff

I registered a few years ago and never received validation, so as a result I had to re-register with a different name. So because of that I'm fourstringdrums2 *lol* I go there once in a while, usually just to post in the "Show us your Bosphorus!" thread or to do a search on something, but I hardly ever post. I believe they have an equally young majority demographic like we have here, but the difference is that the members here are more mature and respectful. The kids at PDF usually just come off as a bunch of punks.
