Valued at $35,000 Hey we all can dream, can't we? Much better deal then the DW Peart kits valued the same. Legendary drummer Carl Palmer (E.L.P., Asia) recently purchased a Paiste Custom Cast drum set which was displayed at the 2002 Winter NAMM and Frankfurt Musik Messe 2002. The drum set, manufactured by master craftsman Jeff Ocheltree, is made of recycled Signature and Traditional cymbals. Carl took delivery of his drumset at Frankfurt Messe in March, where he first played them. We asked Carl what he thought about his drums once he had the opportunity to play them. "These drums are the most fantastic and clearest I've ever played. They are extremely sensitive with a quick stick response yet they are the heaviest and loudest drums I have ever played. I love the drum set" Carl Palmer ![]() Shot at 2007-07-09 ![]() Shot at 2007-07-09 ![]() Shot at 2007-07-09 http://www.paiste.com/news/viewnews.php?newsid=13 |

That even costs more then the Neil Peart kit, now that is impressive.

A drum kit made from cymbals is always something special. I`ve never played on one yet but yeah, surely it sounds different...and also feels different.
And I wonder how many cymbals are needed for such a kit and how much everything weights...but okay, in the end I would stick to wood anyway. :-D thanks for posting! Karl |

I think its maybe even too shiny and extravagant for me, but its cool nonetheless. I just can't imagine dropping that kind of cash on a kit.

I remember that NAMM show, with the 3 kits. 1 for Danny Carey, 1 for Carl Palmer and 1 for an "unnamed" artist. I've never been a big fan of the "stainless steel drum sound" so the "cymbal bronze drum sound", well, "nuff said. But the drum sets sure were pretty. And for sheer weight, man, I picked up the 18" floor tom, wow, what a boat anchor.

I can't even imagine how much that kit weighs. Imagine lugging one of those bass drums around to a gig. You'd be ripped in no time!

Now we know what Saluda does with all of those cymbals that are traded in. LOL
