Default Matt Sorum DW or Ludwig

I saw in the August issue of Drum magazine Matt Sorum is playing a Ludwig kit like the one of the ones John Bonham used only a newer version, with a Black Beauty snare. I went to his website and he had a DW kit, I know he had endorsed DW. Does anyone know if he switched to Ludwig, and if so why did he have a DW kit in the studio? If not, then how could he be shown playing a new Ludwig kit in Drum magazine? Very confusing.

I was wondering the same thing. I believe he is now using Ludwig because he's listed on Ludwig's website. Looks like Ludwig's making a good comeback...WOOHOO!

He was also using Ludwig at the Rock AM Ring and Download Festivals.

I'll take a screen shot of the kit.

Matt is listed as a pedals and hardware artist ONLY on the DW website. It used to say drums, hardware, pedals. So I guess would could officially say he's made the switch!

Yeah, he's a Ludwig guy. I think he's using a 24" kick and a 13" rack along with 16 and 18 floors.

That's right. He's using his same configuration since he started with DW, except 2" shorter on the bass drum. 24x16, 13x10, 16x16, 18x16 and a Black Beauty.

He has publicly said in previous interviews that his favourite kits to record with are his Pork Pie and his vintage Ludwig that was repaired by Bill Detamore of Pork Pie drums.
