Default Rhythm Mag

Hi all. Just seeing does anyone else read Rhythm Magazine, its a U.K based mag so probably mainly U.k based players although if you subscribe you can get delivered to U.S i think. Just got my latest issue today so thought I'd start this thread x

Sure, it's a good read. I like the CD you get with each issue - the play-alongs are something I look forward to. The education bits from the CD and magazine are good too; I found the drum micing series really interesting, for example.

I guess writing critical product reviews is a delicate matter for magazine publishers, but I think the reviews in Rhythm are up there with the best of them.

I haven't really noticed a content focus on British/European based players but I could be wrong; it's not something I have been consciously looking for.

I saw a newly released Australian version of the magazine on the newstands today. I didn't have time to check it out but noticed that (like most things in Australia) it's pretty pricey...but yeah, a magazine worth checking out, I reckon.

My favourite magazine!!!!

Ive been buying it since I started playing, and Ive had about 10 letters published in the past year and a bit.

Last month I had a letter in there about female drummers, this month one about drumming philosophy....

heres what I wrote this month, which may benefit people:

Quote:
"I believe Drumming is unlike any other hobby" says Tom Clark of Milton Keynes. "You cant really even group it as a hobby - for drummers it is more of a way of life, which makes it truly special. We devote ourselves to our music, from which we draw energy and inspiration which fuels more music."
Im proud of my letters to Rhythm, and one day ill post them all up on DW.

It's alright. I'm not sure i like the gear section in the back though. Seems like it's more or less the same stuff featured each month

For anyone that's seen it, the 5.5" Craviotto snare in the latest edition is actually mine now.

Not that I'm happy about that or anything...

:o)

Hey,

Yeah I got a Rhythm subscription for christmas last year. My DVD scored a 3 stars out of 5 in December's issue.

Rhythm is an awesome mag, the playalong CDs are really professional standard.

Just wondering, does anyone know where you can get a list of the playalong tracks on each CD? I'd love to get some back copies I dont have.

Cheers,

I do like the new layout but was there really a need to improve what already worked?

Also, you are right about the Gear Section it does seem to be the same things all the time. They tend to focus upon actual kits and gear too much. I think they could improve the section by mentioning accesories aswell such as Best Issolation Headphones, Best Muffling Solutions, e.t.c something that people really need a good review of,

Just my opinions though :p
