Default A True Drummer...

...Could make an intelligent sounding beat using just a bass, snare and hi-hat for 8 bars!!!

I agree with it do you?? :D

I played my first gig with a snare and hihat - that's all! I was in a blues band, and the singer was a real purist - when I managed to buy a bass, tom and cymbal, he said "you can throw that tom away." Well, I didn't, and I love my toms and cymbals etc, but I will always be grateful for the discipline I learned, being forced one way or another to make the best of not much.

What makes you think he wouldn't or couldn't. Do you really believe Mike and Terry and any other drummer with a large assortment of drums started out that way? Or could it be they started out like most of us, with the basic small kit?

Listen to the first "Rage Against The Machine Album". You can probably count the drum fills on 1 hand.

A true drummer would be earning his bread and butter playing drums as we speak.

i have a confession to make.

im in love with a man.

his name is jesus.

aside from that, the amount of things you hit doesnt affect the exact thing you play, it only affects the different sounds.

...does an intelligent sounding beat raise your IQ? So far I've only been successful at lowering mine.

Ever listen to Bill Withers "Use Me"? High hat, bass and cross stick snare all the way through. Simple, effective and defining.
