Default My BRAND NEW SJC custom drun kit!!

Hey all!!

This is my pride and joy. I am picking these up from SJC custom drums in Dudley, Ma. on Monday, but they took pics of the kit for me at the shop.

http://www.sjcdrums.com/productdetail.php?id=541

Sizes: 8 ply bass, 6 ply toms

20x22 Bass
9x12 Tom
11x14 Tom

Finish: Light golden brown stain with honey amber tint over Wormy maple veneer.
Revolutionary wood hoops with custom horizontal fade from kit color to natural.

Wood badges, 50% offset tube lugs.

Heads are Evans EC2's over G1's on toms

Bass is Superkick 2 and Fiberskyn with shield logo.

This is all partnered around my center piece, a tama warloard masai 10 ply bubinga snare.

Let me know what you all think!!

Matt

Thanks bro, they make great drums up there. Mike is the man, I dealt with him and he made this really easy and stayed in constant contact throughout the whole process. Glad you enjoyed!

That kit has a finish to die for. I love it, and the wooden hoops are definitely a touch of class too. I wouldn't mind a slightly darker shade of wood like that right now, beautiful.

That looks tasy, love the lugs, BD claws, finish, hoops, so basically everything looks great on the kit. Lucky you

Very classy kit. The finish is beautiful. How does it sound? Did you choose the 14" floor instead of the 16" because of the sound?

Congratulations on your new kit.

Thanks for all the comments everyone!! I did choose the 14 instead of the 16 for sound. I like tight, controlled toms, and 16's sound too much like thunder to me (if that makes any sense). so I stuck with a 14. I will certainly be posting more pics when i get it home monday, so i will be pictures with my snare and cymbals as well. SJC did an awesome job with this kit, I could not have asked for anything better from them. The whole exoerience was zwesome. Keep the comments coming!!

it was actually really reasonable. With tax, it was 3140. Less than any DW pro series kits or the like...

Gorgeous kit man, and it's your dream one too..lucky lol.

Who cares about the price; down here guys in 80's Caprice's and Impala's put 8-9k in a paint job alone, but it's their car and money, and it's what they really want.

It looks like this kit is what you really want(obviously, it's your dream one lol) and as long as you feel good having it, then thats what counts.

Thanks man, appreciate the kind words :-)

I feel lucky every time i get to play it. It still kinda feels like its not really mine..like i'm getting the pleasure of playing on someone much better than me's kit...i dunno its strange...

I have to say, those are beautiful; drums--congratulations on a very nice kit. Hope you enjoy them---what's important is your opinion, not those of some other person, and for what it's worth, you should be very proud of those drums.

Have a great time with them.

Thanks a lot everyone!! I really appreciate your kindness....I get to play this kit out live for the first time on aug 20th and the sound guy is making a live recording of each band for us...so i'll have a completely non doctored version for you showing you what these babies sound like...

I don't mind being sabotaged, everyone is entitled to their own opinion I guess...not worth fighting over...if people want to act immature, that's ok, it just gives an insight into their personality...

Anyway, thanks again for all the kind words!! I'll post pics too when i eventually get my 18" floor tom and Bas Drum woofer...

Any more questions at all about the company or my kit or anything else please feel free to ask!!!

I may get some today. I am waiting for a few other things to come in next week though. I actually have to return the 8x12 tom, there is a small dip in the bearing edge. Gretsch is sending me a replacement and I'll mail the damaged one back when it comes in. It tunes up and sounds great, but it's just a flaw I'm not going to accept on a kit of that price.

Would love to flirt with a good gretsch, though I'm married to my Yamahas! Seriously, would love to know how you do with a top of the line gretsch . Considering how good the Cats & Renowns ( I loved those renowns), this has got to be GOOD!

I'll try and get some up tonight. I still have my Gretsch Snare, a couple of stands, and a Bosphorus Trash Crash to photo with it.

I'm almost of the opinion that asking how much someone pays for a kit, is like asking someone how much money they make. I have always asked anyone, "do you mind if I ask you how much you paid for ...?" Most of us if we took the time could look up any web site and get a close estimate or "guesstimate" as to how much a particular kit costs. I would suggest in the future, that all of us either eew and ahh over some ones new set, or state their opinion of the set if asked, and move on. My friends at work couldn't believe that I paid a grand for a set of drums, with cymbals, but they don't know beans about drums. I think that most of us could pretty well guess that a custom set costs somewhere between 2000 and 3000 and leave it at that. If you really must know, then PM the owner and if he/she feels like telling you then OK. Just my 2 cents.

Oh yeah Matt, great looking set. Have fun playing it. Thats what this drumming thing is all about.

This is more like the thread should have gone in the first place....

What was the build time on your kit from when you ordered it? They seem to be putting out kits left and right lately.

I can't wait to see some pics of this thing all set up at home. I can see a comfy setup on the way.

Coincidentially, I was checking out their site a few days ago. They seem really skilled, and the drums seem great, just like yours. And I love your snare, it oes really well with the kit.

Matt,
Congrats on the fine drum set. My other post got deleted because of the cross reference, but I wanted to tell you that I really liked your set. How do you like the Warlord snare? Anyways, have fun on your dream kit.

In answer to your questions:

Broken Glass, I ordered the kit on May 18th and picked it up on June 28th. so about 5 weeks. I'll have pics of the kit set up son, my camera is currently FUBAR....

Mendozart: Thanks for the compliments!! The warlord snare is great, plenty of tuning range and a depth and tone that would make your ears bleed. perfect for my type of music. It's a great compliment to the SJC set.
