Default New heads, now leave me alone

I finally have upgraded from my stock tama heads to a set of G1 clears... I got them today and have already put a dent or two in the 10"... sad about that but these should do much better than the Tama heads. They already sound better. Look:
P.S. I now have the 12" on my old snare stand sitting on my left. Adds a nice snare crossover fill on occasion. I like it a lot, the semi-symmetry is cool

finally!!!

now all you need to do is pull in that hi-hat stand all the way out there in left field. After that it will look and sound great.

Congrats, but how do you dent a drumhead twice in the same day that you put it on? It doesn't look like your tom is at a severe angle, so that only leaves your technique. It sounds like you need to analyze it and make some changes. Not to say heads never get dented, but they shouldn't be that fast, especially a high quality head like Evans.

I've seen your vid and I know you're not a basher, but Rob does have a good point. You might want to work on your volume. The best tip I can give to keep both your ears and heads happy is to focus on playing more with flicks of the wrist than full-arm stroke. That kind of softer stroke decreases the impact, but doesn't really affect the sound and it makes your playing sound much more tasteful and mature.

Also, I second the suggest to move the hats. Try to get the both pedals in line with one another, and move the 12" closer to the hats so you're not twisting too much to move between the toms.

I used to feel the same way, but I just bought new heads (Aquarians) and dented them on the first go-round.

I've never even dented Ambassadors, so it's not technique. It could be tuning, though. I've been experimenting with these Aquarians, using tunings from quite loose to medium tight.

I guess I'm going to have to keep my mouth shut about people denting heads from now on!

BTW, congrats on the new heads, Mr. Pasquini. And I agree that you should bring your hihat closer.

But what do I know?!?

I would have gone with coated but these were $25 shipped.

BTW I had it kinda spread out because I was about to move all my pedals and I had the camera out. they're a little closer to in line and the high hats are closer.

Bravo on your head choice, but if you have dented the 10" already, you should have went with the G2's. Damn near bulletproof, those ones. I have a few dents in my 4 month old set of them, but that was mainly from me standing up and really whaling on them to add "emphasis" to the ending of a song at a gig. (sometimes, I'm just too enthusiastic)...

Took me 3 years before i replaced the heads on my first CB drum set. I have had my Pearl session about 1.5 years, and i have only replaced the heads once.
