Pictures speak volumes. Very nice. Congrats. 1 up, 2 down plus enough "spare" drums for when you need to scratch that Dennis Chambers vibe?

Cool drums. I like the idea of Pearl to make every drum as an own instrument.
Do you know which woods are used? Isn`t it African Mahagoni and Maple for the bass?

mhh, however...they look very beautiful!

Beautiful!!!

BUT........

Why go w/ a mounted 16 and not legs like your 18?

I'm assuming it's an 8-10-12-13-14-16 w/ an 18 floor and a 22?

God those are beautiful! I'm jealous. I believe the Reference is by far the best product Pearl is putting out right now. If I had the cash I would have one in the exact color as yours....drooool. My Sessions Custom is a good set, but those Reference are GREAT and so damn pretty!

Maple, birch AND Mohogany! An 8 Piece kit!
The Reference snares are also incredible, 20 ply, I think.
Can't wait to see that monster set up!

Well, for starters (please ignore the "other" thread. I was confusing myself and didn't realise I'd posted a thread already. I'm a multi-forum whore...haha) those are just 3.0megapixel camera phone pictures. I'll try and get some good ones up later. I have two tom arm stands that are supposed to show up right away. The loaders didn't put them on the same load as the drums, so it'll be a little later. I'll probably call the store today and find out what's up. I ended up using a 13, 16, 18 setup for now (which sounds great). The reason the 16" is suspended, is because the 16x14" drum couldn't be ordered with floortom legs. I went with 16x14" since I wanted a 14x12" drum to mount over the drums if required. Mind you, the stability of the optimounts works wonders on the stability of such a large drum too.

Here are the specs on the kit

Pearl Reference #195 Crystal Rain

8x8 tt
10x9 tt
12x10 tt
13x11 tt
14x12 tt
16x14 tt
18x16 ft
22x18 kd

Absolutely beautiful, Drummin_Dan. That finish is stunning. What a great kit. Would you, by chance, be the dude who bought that kit at Dale's Drum Shop in Harrisburg? I was in the shop picking up a new tom and this exact style kit was ready to go out the door. I congratulated the person buying it. Either way, sweet kit and congratulations.

It's actually a Pearl Signature snare. It's the Steve Ferrone brass model. I actually liked it better than the Black Beauty. Of course, brass and maple is a different animal. I really like the Reference snare though.

Hi there, Dan

Just bought one of these babies myself. Picked it up today. Not quite as rich as yours but same colour with 22x18, 10x8, 12x9, 14x14 with legs. Dual tom holder (still trying to get used to it being not in the middle of the bass drum!). All Zildjian Avedas cymbals (20" Ping Ride, 16" Medium Crash, 15" Paper Thin Crash, 8" A Splash, couple of really sweet hi-hat cymbals. Pedals for double KD and HH are eliminators. I'm a happy man - same colour as yours - Crystal Rain.

Didn't buy the snare mainly because the dealer didn't have one in stock and the wait in the UK is around 4 - 6 months I heard. I have a Ludwig Piccolo anyway which I'll use until I get up the courage to tell the wife I want the Reference snare as well!

Would sincerely enjoy to see a picture of the way you've set your kit up, Dan, if you have the time. It would help me a lot to see how you guys "in the know" are setting up with un-drilled KD etc.

If you all want to be bored to death I'll take a couple pics and post 'em when I get a moment.

Best wishes
Chris

The Pearl Reference in comparison to numerous other brands was actually quite reasonable in price. I still have to get out the digital camera for some photos, but I do have a photo of the latest setup.
