Warm, dark and mysterious with a smokey level of trash is my impression of Agop Turks be it hats, crash or ride aydee.

Hey I'm not taking the blame for this...I know I wasn't being any help when I only had Turks :)

I only own one Turk now, my 21" Bosphorus Med-Thin. As much as I love the Turks, having nothing but Turks is a bit overkill for me :)

aydee...if you like the sound, go for some. =)
I`m sure you`ll be able to show us a Turk YOU own one day.

My Turk hats are awesome for me...they are dry, dark, trashy...I find that they have less overtones and a lower character overall.
The chick sound of those is great! Crisp and strong enough, still has body and volume (not meant as loud).

Karl

very neat, harry, Is that a 15" hat? ( does that sound get too big in the overall balance of an accoustic kit? ) I know you can control yours, electronically

I know you asked him the question, but I thought I'd chime in too. I use 15" Bosphorus Masters and I don't find them to sound too big. Actually, they sound a bit softer and a little lower in the mix, making for I think a better balance overall.

I don't think that's gonna be a problem. The Turk 15's have plenty of versatility. I'm really happy with them, and have no regrets letting go the black logo 2002's I had (also 15's). They'd (the Turks) be the wrong hats for my 26, 15, 16, 18 kit, but that kit is no more. In a way, I'm almost building around the Turks, right now.

Thanks, I think I'll check em out 1st financially opportunity. The thing about checking Hat soundsfor me, for some reason,is that they eventually sound different when I have them hooked up to my kit. The sound is never what it was in the shop( !). Not necessariliy different- bad, ...but different.

I'm sure they will be great.

,, but if not, Karl, Rob, Harry, and Stan will be getting hate mail from you know who ; )

Thanks very much! Yes, I do love them....just amazing hats!
And aydee: I risk it...first when I got my Mel Lewis. Just had the opportunity to listen to some sound clips on cymbalsonly and had some pics...but not more than that.
The same with these beautiful hats...and I plan to do the same with that 22" Agop SE.

I experienced that the sound clips are very very authentic so I gave it a try. Of course my drum teacher wanted to kick me for that... ;-) because I risked it.
But strangely I don`t regret it...maybe I was just lucky.

btw: I sell my 22" K Custom Dry Light Ride and my 12" HHX Evolution splash for that Agop SE.

Karl

Not just with the kit but different rooms and stages effect how high hats sound from my experience aydee.

If you get them down the road hope they work out for ALL our sakes aydee LOL!.

Yes those delectable Agop pics do it every time aydee...

Just got in from a gig and my 22" SE TW in particular sounded AMAZING in the venue tonight.

Good luck with the Turkish pies and nice maple snare down the road aydee.

Karl, I have Hi-Hats-13" Acustoms/ vintage Zildijians/ Orions ( Brazilian brand very different sounding...only to get an " exotic sound" ) Also I use the other 2 occasionally as remote hat cymbals

The 'As" are very crisp and sharp, but I kind of like what you guys are describing in your posts. If the Turks contrast well with the As, which I think they will then I'll be happy camper.

(On the snares, I play a Chad Smith Signature ( Aluminum ), sharp, crisp, versatile, yamaha piccolo ( steel ), and an old Tama Imperial Star snare( steel ) ...I surprise myself by not having a maple snare..need to fix that : )

If you make a move to Turks, you might want to stay with 13", if that's what you're familiar with. My 2002's were 15", my Sabians were 14" (both sold now). If I pick up another set of hats, I'd probably get 13" Turks. That would make for good vocal separation, I think.

Yeah, a long time that was a question for me: Taking a 13" Turk or a 14". I find that those 13" sound much drier...and they have more cut, a higher pitch and less body.
That`s why I chose 14" Turks. I want some depth, body...hard to describe.

Actually strange because I don`t watch mystery movies.

best,

Karl
