Jungle/Acoustic/Travel Kit

Here it is,

First of all, a huge thank you and shout out to Blondie off these forums for very very kindly donating the roto toms to me, i can not express the amount of gratitude i have for this act of kindness.

Story behind this kit - mainly, is a small acoustic gig and travelling kit, that will fit in my car, saves me taking the full gretsch kit to small venues... specs are as follow:





13x3 Gretsch steel piccolo
16x15 Bass drum (4 spurs, custom made by myself, faux fur finish)
6,8,10 inch roto toms

14" medium Meinl Raker hats (bought for only 100 Australian dollars on eBay, very happy with them)

Occasionally a 20" Meinl amun ride and 12" byzance splash


Gibraltar hardware, muffled kick drum beater (custom made by me)

The 'floor' roto tom is mounted on what used to be a snare stand, interchangeable parts allows it to be either a roto-holder or a snare basket.

Heads are:

Snare: G1/Hazy 300
6": Stock (will replace this when i have time)
8" and 10": Remo ambassador ebony
Bass: Evans Hydraulics/Stocks front head painted black, ready for band logo.

The thing above the hihat is a brass souvenir gold pan i bought while in south australia. Turns out it is made of bronze and makes a fantastic accent bell, so i drilled a hole in it and mounted it!

All comments and criticism is wanted, this is an ever evovling kit that i have put together for prohbably less than 300 australian dollars, and it packs a punchy sound which is very unique, gets good comments from the audience too.

Very cool. I like the way you off-set the floor roto using the black mounting bar.

Harry - I realised that after disassembling most piece, i could just drill into the aluminium mounting bar and bolt it to the old tilter arm that i had lying around, that way, i can still use my snare basket, as well as the tilter arm if i need some extra hardware. All i need now if the bottom section & leg from a cymbal stand for the roto-tom stand is chrome too.

ok, im getting one.. thats it! i really wanted a jungle kit but i couldnt really think of how i was gonna do it.. thats a really cool idea. i might make one.

Sad to report that two of the roto-toms snapped under pressure (they had hairline cracks that i noticed.. but i dismissed them and thought they would hold under pressure).

Luckily, I have managed to save the 6 inch roto, which will be integrate dinto my kit as a very high tom.

So.. the jungle kit has died... But it was fun while it lasted!

If all it needs are rototoms, then get some! They aren't that much.

This kit is exceedingly cool. I see most sets are the same ho-hum stuff and it's good to see someone doing their own thing. Your kit is eccentric, flashy and exotic.

The fur on the bass drum is just plain pimp.
