woah, lovely neat kit - looks very comfortable and fun to play! actually tried that exact pedal out yesterday in a local music shop... im torn between a dw5000 ad3, and the single direct drive yamaha fd. I was overly impressed with the pedal, but in fairness it was being played on a ridiculous kit with a badly tuned bass drum! how do you find that pedal? easy to perform doubles?

Cheers!

haha thanks guys!

hmm...the pedal...the only complaint i have is...none. Hahaha...im investing in a couple of iron cobra pedal beaters for it...trying a different sound....

About the double stroking on the pedals...im not really into it so i cant say for sure.haha.

The snare...i've cranked it up pretty tight...love the sound man. Nice pop ... loud sidesticks...etc...typical of a wood hoop-ed snare... I definitely underestimated peace drums!

Beautiful setup man!
Especially the look of the wood hoop of your snare (It always nice a Wood hoop snare and it sound awesome too!)

How the Mehmet Samatya sounds?
Bright and trashy like the original Mehmet?
Do you like them?

Great choice of drums and cymbals =)

Wow.. that's pretty! All of those cymbals look really nice, and that snare is EXTREME! Stagestars UNITE!

I noticed on your V2 you had the toms on a mount to the side. What kind of a mount was that and where did you get it?

oh those?

those are actually the normal tom holders you get with the set...the 1 which we stick into the bass drum...i took that out and clamped it on a stand...

I hope i answered your question haha...

PS: im still using the same techniqe to mount my 10" above the bass drum...me no like eff-ed bass drums =P

Odd question, but when you originally got the kit did you have trouble tuning the snare so it wouldn't be effected by the toms and bass drum? It's like there's no way to stop the rattling... I find I kinda like the way the snare sounds it's just annoying that I can't get the buzzing to stop.

Hm. I'm torn.

I really loved your old 2 up - 1 down setup, but I do like certain aspects of your new setup. It looks very clean and comfortable. I'd definitely be down for jamming on that and I'm sure many others would too! Good selection of heads, too .. I hear rave reviews about EC2s, but I'm too much of a fan of coated heads to make the switch myself. And that snare is a beauty! Peace makes great drums from what I've heard, and I'm sure your snare is no exception. The wood hoops really scream "class". What happened with the chinas, by the way? Are you trying to go minimalist, or were they just not working out for you? And I don't mean to bombard you with questions, but I need to ask this because I haven't had my Stagestar around to test out myself: did you need to make any alterations to the bass drum or the beaters in order for the beaters to hit dead-center on the head? I have an Iron Cobra Double Pedal that I'll eventually be putting on my own Stagestar, and I'm curious if I'll need to make any alterations, or if I'll have to go out and buy a Danmar riser or some equivalent.

By the way, rock that Stagestar! Probably one of my favorite kits, and I'm proud to be an owner of one. I can't wait to get it out of storage .. I have some big plans for mine.

Pasquini:

I had the same problem with the stock snare. My best bet would be to either get a tissue or a playing card and tape it to the resonant head of your snare, inbetween the snares and the head, close to the side of the drum. That will muffle the drum slightly, but it should cut back on snare buzz. Another option is to re-tune your drums with an actual tuner, and make sure that the toms are tuned on different notes than the snare. I did that for my current snare (a Pearl Piccolo, which is VERY sensitive to other vibrations) and tuned the snare (in off position) to C, my mounted tom to E, and my floor tom to G. That killed most of the snare feedback that I was getting You can read more about ways to kill snare buzz here.

Let me first coment that I am absolutley infatuated with your snare. If you dont mind me asking, how much did it set you back. Im in the market for a thrifty woodhoop snare.

Whoa.

Mr. Pasquini : Me too! I also had problems tuning the snare to avoid rattling till the point where i had to use my friend's drum dial. Even then the rattling continues but not as much as before. What kung_f00 said is right, tune it to a different note from the toms. Somehow i kinda like the snare sound, you can get a very decent sound from it ( besides the rattling of course :) )

kung_f00 : Nah, the chinas were( are still ) great! I decided not to put them on because i find myself distracted from what im trying to learn ( stuff like rudiments etc. )...i always end up jamming randomly especially with the chinas around ( metal anyone? \m/ ). Oh yeah...and it's loud as hell, i wouldn't want to kill my neighbours with their new baby around!

kung_f00 part 2 : About the pedals. I've never had a problem with the pedals hitting dead center. I didn't even have to adjust the height of the beaters. The only beater which ain't hitting dead center is of course the slave beater...but i guess most double pedals are like that...slave offset to the left abit.

D.C. drummer : The snare set me back around let see...S$350...around USD$230. I didn't buy it off the shelf or anything...ordered it based on models on the peace catalogue. Finish is up to you... and you can also have the hardware and wood hoops in black!

:) Thanks for the comments guys...keep it coming if you wanna...haha...

BAHHAHAHAH
That snare costs almost as much as the kit! I really respect the price more and more of my Stagestar... The shells really are very good for the price... it's just funny that everything I add costs almost half as much as the kit its self!
