Default lights inside kick drums

Hey, I recently saw the music video for "level" by the Raconteurs

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DrG0CVoG_ww

The drummer's got a white resonant head on the bass drum, it's illuminated from behind. Anyone know what the proper method to achieving this appearance is?

lights in a string like the ones in some of the ludwig vistalites?

An omnidirectional light sitting inside the drum? Projection through a clear batter?

I've also heard of shining lights at the bottom of your cymbals so when you hit them light flashes about, i thought that was kind of clever.

it's seems to be a very homogenic central light so I think that they have put a lamp inside the bass drum.

The ludwig vistalite lightning system it's different, kinda christmas lights all around the shells ;)

In the Train of Tought tour Portnoy had three flashing lights on his resonant batters, that simulated the frontal light of a locomotion.

maybe, if you put on of those "tap" lights in your bass drum...

Looks like a lightbulb inside the bass drum. Possibly a Fiberskyn3 type head reso. (seems to have a little texture to it. Vocal melody sounds similar to a Rhino Bucket song. I've seen lots of kick with lights in them, over the years. Looks like just 1 bulb. I knew I cat in 74 who put a switch underneath each kick pedal that strobed the light inside the drum. (twin kicks). Harder to do back then than now because he had to fabricate floor plates. Now-a-days, most pedals come with floor plates, so you have something to mount a switch to. But back to the question, scientifically speaking, I'd say it's a 60 watt light bulb in a bass drum.

thanks for all the replies.

Here an idea, though i have no idea how to go about doing it, have the color light change when the batter hits the drum (clapper type mechanism? would it get triggered from other sounds, like the snare?)

actually that wouldnt be too hard at all, just control the switching with a drum trigger (duh)

or perhaps a projector inside the drum so you could project pictures onto the head.

Um...a projecter in the bass drum...bad idea.

um.i have a pressure trigger under my bass petal and when i push down on it it switches lights and there is a master power box by the petal that i can turn off the different colors and put on strobes and stuff....btw i don't actually use the bass i have my electric pads over all of my drums

I didn't really mean to imply the OP was talking about Acoustic Lights, but to recommend them as a better solution. My fault for the unclear post.
