Default My new drumset, Kumu Tony Suominen Custom. Handmade!

Hereīs some pics of my new drumset that i got a week ago. Itīs custom made by a finnish drummaker Pekka Helanen, his company is called Kumu Drums. http://www.kumu.fi/english/index_english.html

Truly one of the best sounding drums Iīve ever heard. Class A quality.

Here are the specs

14"x6" snr (SuperWoodHoops-rims. A certain kind of wooden hoops which Kumu manufactures.)
22"x18" bd
13"x10" rt
16"x14" ft
18"x15" ft

nice kit, very open, solid quality I'm sure. Nice wood hoop on the snare! What are the cymbals specs you've got there too? Cool looking finish too!

If it matches up to even half of the quality comments I've read about Kumu, then those are truly supreme drums. Beautiful as well to say the least.

Looks like a beautiful kit, especially like the wood hoops on the snare and the 18" floor tom must be great.

What kind of finish is that, looks like finished wood stain but some of the gloss pictures almost look like a wrap?

Enjoy your kit! I'll check out the Kumu website.

The symbal specs:

Paiste 2002 17" Crash
Paiste 2002 18" Medium
Paiste 1000 20" RUDE Crash/Ride (I´ll be getting a new Paiste RUDE 20" ride/crash this week, since the one i have now, is cracked.)
Paiste 802 14" Hi-Hat (Cracked!! This is a secondary, closed hi-hat, next to the ride cymbal. I think I´ll buy a Paiste 2002 14" Medium hi-hat, when i have the money. Then I´ll throw away those old 802´s and start using those Alchemy hi-hats as a second hat)
Alchemy PRO A.R.T. 14" Hi-Hat
Ufip Rough Series 20" China
Wuhan 12" China

I prefer Paiste cymbals, but also have other brands in my setup. It´s a matter of money.

Edit.

Oh yeah, somebody asked about the finish of the drums. This is taken straight from Kumu-website:

"Kumu drums are available with virtually any desired color, the color palette being almost limitless. You can choose, for example, a combination of two or more colors, fades, bursts, patterns and so on. There are two finishing options: the less expensive SatinSound™ (low-gloss satin wax) or GlossTone™ (hand-polished lacquer), which is also available with sparkles."

My setup has SatinSound-finish and the colour is named RedNight. It´s a really dark, deep red colour.

Great drums! I looked on the site a while ago when someone (was it you?) posted a Kumu snare, and all the drums the man designed and built are incredible. Have a lot of fun playing them :)

Would that be North or South Korea?... just joking, but on a serious note, that is a realy sweet set of boom tubes. I especially like the wood hooped snare.

That's the topic I was talking about, the snare kinda looks like yours (or atleast in my memory), that's why I was mistaken.

As a fellow custom drum owner, congratulations! You have purchased drums for a lifetime, I have heard really good things about Kumu. They probably make no more than a few dozens sets a year, if that. You have a work of art as much as a drum set.

Having said that, I don't much care for the tom sizes - too bottom-heavy for my tastes.

Awesome drums. Not too bottom heavy for my tastes at all. But I've always been basically a 1 up, 2 down kinda guy. You and DMC have perhaps the most esoteric/exotic kits on the forum. Kudos.

Looks amazing. Must have a very unique sound with such thin birch shells. Any soundclips available?
