Beautiful Kit...another set of Oak Customs. I love mine, love the blue finish on your kit. Also like the size of your floor toms...what are the specs on the drums and on the nice array of cymbals?

Keep the faith!

Nice looking kit. I have never seen the Oak Custom in a blue finish before..looks great. The Oak Customs made it to the final 3 on my list when I bought my new set a couple of months ago. The guy in my local music store was going to sell the orange/ natural 4 pc. shell pack for around $1,250, which was a great deal. I finally decided on the Pearl Sessions Maple mainly because a free drum rack was thown in the deal and Musicians Friend would tote the note for a year. I love the two bass drum set up and especially your avatar ;-)

Ok 2 things I have to say:

1) That kit is amazing. Love the finish, love the double bass and your cymbals. I've seen that finish on a few kits, and the new Tour Customs have a similar finish. How do you like the EC2's on your toms? I had them on my Stage Custom. Didn't suit me. Excellent kit man.

2) GUINNESS!!!

Love it. I looked at the Oak Customs but they were a bit too harsh for my liking. Great cymbals as well, a Sabian man like myself.

Yes, yes I do. Its not like its an uncommon setup really. I started on my dad's 5 piece and expanded outwards I guess with my own kit. I just started putting my ride up high and a big china low about a year ago. Only recently did I put a china in front of my 12 and 13 toms. Its a great spot and I dig it huge.

I'm almost happy with the EC2's on the toms. They took out alot of the attack and volume that oaks are known for. I think I'll go back to emperors next time around. I love the harshness of oak. It suits the music I currently play.

I had about 6 Guinness last night. I could drink it like water anytime.

Super cool. DEEP snare and HUGE ride bell. Nice. Im looking for a ride with a huge bell for metal and very hard rock to complement my 2002 ride for the softer rock moments. Whats your thoughts on the Power bell? Its appearence (sp?) has changed alot since I last saw one.

The PB is a pretty vicious ride. It cuts through everything like a hawt knife through buttah. Its place is definetly confined to the hard rock/metal world. When you side stick the bell its almost painful.

Hey,

great kit. I would be happy to have 2 bassdrums too!
Your cymbals are really great too. If i would have the money I would buy a lot of you cymbals too. Sabian makes just good ones!
Setup looks comfortable but 18" tom? In my opinion thats already a bassdrum again! :)

Did you bought 2 different drumsets or all of these parts alone?

I like the Haake set-up as well, except for the ride (putting it up high). I like to have a ride low next to a china and then a huge crash above those two (more like Danny C.). Between my high toms (8+10) I've a Masterworks Crash stacked over a small Zildjian K China.. works great.

Cheers.

The 18 is my favorite. It pounds like no other.

I ordered all the drums at onces.

Loving it. Theres four less drums to lug around and having the ride low and close with no toms to my far right gives me a much more relaxed playing position. I do miss all the toms for the big heavy metal rolls and the other kick for the big sound. However the challenge of rethinking all my parts for a four piece has really forced me to be more creative with less voices.

Plus I threw on some new Aquarian coated single plies on the top with some high-frequency heads on the bottom. Its a big change from the EC2's.

I'm trying figure out a way to use all the drums while keeping the ride low and close. All I can think of at the moment is losing the 13" tom. Or shuffling all three rack toms to the left and having my 10" above the hats rather than beside.

As soon as I can I'm going to pick up two Eliminator single pedals. The double pedal I rented has convinced me.

There seem to be several people using the whole "floating tom" thing right now. Neil Peart, I know, has his smaller tom up over his hats.
