Default My new DW Exotic...

My new DW Vertical Grain Exotic Cocobolo kit.

Sizes: 10, 12, 14, 16, and a 20 kick.
I use a DW 9000 Double Pedal with the "Hardcore" DW Beaters. (if you cant tell, im a big DW fan)

I dont have any pics of them set up yet because it cost so much to buy the drums that I ran low on money before I could buy the arms and joints to connect it to my Pearl Rack.

I'm currently looking at cymbals and I dont know much about them as I have been concentrating on my Drum Shell knowledge lately. I play everything from Hardcore to Metal, to all types of Prog, and if my friends need a stand-in drummer, I might be kinda flexible and be a temporary "punk" drummer (ew). I'm not a hard-hitter because I respect my drums way too much for that even though I play heavy music. (Technique comes before volume and intensity!)

If anyone can recommend any type of cymbals I can or should check out, please feel free to let me know where I can read about them!

Wow, simply amazing. The look on those tubs is outstanding. They're also just the sizes i want.

As for cymbals, i suggest looking into Sanbian AA's. I play in a metalcore/melodic metalband myself but i don't want to get Zildjian Z customs or sabian metalX's because i don't like their sound.
The AA's IMO work for every style. So they'll also be usefull for your punk drumming and personal solo's, grooves.

Thanks dude, the punk thing hopefully wont last. i hate punk and i never like to play it. ive just done it a few times for my old boss. he really wants me to play in his punk band, but its REALLY not my thing. I might as well play for an R&B group :)

Incredible!!! Looks amazingly beautiful! That is Art...and it is hot!

I`m just curious: How do they sound out of the box? In theory they would be de-tuned because of the long journey, how does DW handle the tuning out of the box??

Beautiful drums, very colorful wood. I wish my drums had this much color. I really want to see them set up!

wow, i was looking at a kit with that finishply online somewhere and thinking: "I bet that would look really good with black hardware."

Thanks for proving me right... it looks better than i thought.

Too bad you couldn't afford hardware... i'd be pulling hair out having those things sitting on the floor.

beautiful drums!!! I LOVE your sizes (i have the same sizes as well) -- although mine is only a collectors maple ;)

as for cymbals, i think all of them make great ones. I like A's and K's (note, not custom). Sabian AA series is great as is HHX. Also, look into the Bosphorus.... beautiful cymbals that are truly hand-hammered.

"Cocobolo." I like that name. I'm thinking unlathed cymbals might look really cool with that kit. If you're into metal, perhaps some Paiste RUDEs.

absolutley incredible drumset! I love the finish, the black hardware, and the sizes. Something tells me that whatever cymbals you go with, you'll like darker ones such as the AA's, HHX's, or Bosphorus Turks and Antiques (possibly a New Orleans crash or two), or maybe some Saluda Earthworks, Black MistX, or Glory's, or some Ziljian K Constantinoples.

Nice drum kit, makes me really jealous. I love the finish and the sizes are good. As for cymbals either go with Sabian AA or AAX, Meinl b20 or Paiste Alpha. Another drummer made happy by Drum Workshop Drums!

This a hard satin finish right? or is laquer? It doesn't appear to be laquer since they arent shiny, and hard satin makes the colors "pop" a little more. Do you know?
