Default Smallest professional drumset ever!

Well, probably not the smallest ever and by no means professional, but hey, who cares...
Mediocrefunkybeat inspired me to really minimize my drumset, to focus on the important things, so here we go:

Specs

Shells all Sonor Force 2005 100% birch:

14x12 Bassdrum
8x8 Tom
14x5 1/2 Snare

Heads:

Evans EC2 clear on BD
Evans Genera HD Dry on snare
Sonor stock head on tom (single ply remo made in china)

Cymbals:

Pasite Alpha 13' Medium Hats

Hardware:

Sonor 200 Hi-Hat and Snare-Stands
Pearl Multi-Clamp
5 years old Pearl Pedal with Yamaha beater

The picture quality is still horrible since I can't find my good digicam, but I think you'll get the idea and I just made some recordings but I can't upload them all. Everything bigger than 1MB doesn't work.

nice! but i would get bored with only wat you've got...still, i think it'd be fun to play.

EDIT how do u like the alpha's? and do u think (or does anyone else think) they would be much of an upgrade from xs20's?

Regarding the error message....what size attachment are you trying to upload? It looks like the server is refusing the connection because of file size. I think they have to be 10mb or under on the forum.

Nice setup btw!

Very nice Afro! I must say, the 14" bass drum is a little small even for me, but I do love the execution of your idea. We'll take over the World with our small setups.

That's cool. I have a 16x16, 8x8, and snare, hats, crash, and ride that I use for small gigs.

i dig it. you may want to think about a smaller snare....

you should look for a BD riser also. DW makes a good one for that size.

here's my mini-setup. this is all i've been playing lately.

Hahaha, nice. I'm currently refinishing my bass drum, so I tried to use an old marching snare about the same size as that one last night as one. I couldn't stand it, but I guess it was ok for practicing. Then again, I do use a 26", so it was quite a jump. I hope it works out for you!

@ gusty
Yes, I said it many times before and I'll say it again and again, the new Alphas are pretty good cymbals, I liked those hats more than most oft the twice as expensive zildjans and sabians. Defnietely worth an upgrade from every low level line, of course you should go and check out if it's the right thing for you though.

@ TitanSound
Yes I already thought of that, but the soundfiles are 1 or 2MB each and it gives me that message even when I'm just trying to upload one of those.

@ MFB
Thx, which part of the world do you want when we're done?

@ Drummermom
Yes, a crash/ride would definetely have to be added, this is still kind of a joke, but we'll see how far it goes...

@ murphinelli
Since this is rather for fun than a serious kit, I won't put much money into it. I already though about some additions I'd need:
A smaller snare as you already mentioned
10' hi-hats
a crash/ride
and I'd probably build a drum-riser myself but it would still be a lot of money to spend...i do like you kit very much though.

I'll take the Northern Hemisphere, but you can have everything below the Caucasus and everything South of Georgia in the US. So you get the Africa, India, China, the whole of South America and Antartica. I get Europe, Canada and the Arctic and most of Russia. I think that sounds fair, no?

Can I be in your club? I'll throw away everything. I'll use a 10" rack tom as my Bass drum and buy a 8"piccolo snare and find a 8" for my floor tom. I'll get 9" high hats and instead of a ride or a crash I'll use an 8" splash.

Wait a second, that would mean you'd get the first and second and I the third world? Well, since our taking over of the world would solve every problem of developement countries (starting with saving the rainforests and therewith stopping the global warming because small kits use less wood), this would still be a fair cut I think. Oh and have a look at the soundfiles I managed to upload, you'll see the bassdrum doesn't even sound that small. On that recording the fake bassdrum sounds better than the real snare.

Mr. Pasquini
Show me pictures of that set and you can have...well....Micronesia HAHA!

I noticed that the bass drum sounded surprisingly large. I'm quite tempted to give it a go, but I'm too much of a purist for a 'real' bass drum to try it. Shocking I know.

Nice and tight, funky playing there sir!
Wow, I definitely didn't think that modded bass drum would sound as nice as it does but.. wow. That's definitely got some punch to it.

Thanks, it's the good old bassdrum recipe, very low tuning and a (in this case very small) pillow touching both heads.

Would be great, except it needs two floor toms! Every set nowdays has two of them.

Just kidding. Very stripped-down - playing on this would force you to focus on the basics and solidfy your chops.

Hey, you just gave me another ridiculous idea, speaking of floor toms...i just added a neat floor tom to my setup (and messed up my whole room doing so). 22x17,5 full birch shell with Evans EMAD head...

I run my floor tom a bit lower but your setup is good for rimshots.

Hey Afro, why dont you use the tom mounting system to lift it up the ground instead of a blanket ?

Look how I did it

Overall it look like this

Wow, that looks great! I definetely have to try this, but for the weekend I have to go back to the big setup because I need all that stuff for band practice and I'll have the brother of a friend come over because he wants me to play the drums for his newest record.
