they reflect stage light, they shine and look pretty!

http://www.elipticalfx.com/

Website says: ElipticalFX is created from an exotic material that captures light, and then redirects it towards the edge. What this means is that the edge glows under any light source, including stage lighting, sunlight and even black light!

So no, they do not glow in the dark.

Best thing about that kit is it sounds even better than it looks!!!!
I don't even know how to put into words what the drums sounded like in that room. It was everything I ever wanted to hear from a drum.

The FX rings really do add a nice touch, I just got some Yellow ones in for my Toms that I am going to stick on to add another layer of color under the Orange ones. My other kit has green ones on it.

And yes, those are little hands on my bass drum. The are called Cool Claws, and are made in Canada. Check'em out: http://www.maceacherndrums.com/

And I don't know if I have any other photos of that snare that are any better. It's a custom cast stell shell. 5mm thick with 3mm re-enforcement rings. Why a meal snare needs re-enforcement rings I don't know, but it weighs like 45lbs!!!

Nice, dude. Gorgeous finish, awesome cymbal choices, and a solid setup. I'm not a fan of the icebell over the bell of the ride, but hey.. it's your kit, and apparently that setup's worked well for you.

When I move to Orange County (Warwick), I'm gonna have to look you up so we can jam.

What!?!?! Only one floor tom??

Actually, this is a really nice set - I think the whole dual floor tom fad is overdone and a nice set with only one floor tom is distinctive.

Beautifyl finishes, beautiful cymbals, nice intergration of electronics. I've never paid much attention to Istanbul Agops until now.

I really like the first pic. Very artsy. Something you would see in a drum mag or official bio. I like how you are using two short segments of a rack to keep the view over the kick clean. That's actually a really good idea and I think I may try that out.

The double rack thing is sweet. You just pick them up and plop them on stage. I even cut all the pipes down to the eaxt size I wanted. It leave NO flexibility at all for changes in the set up, but I'm OK with that.

Hey Kung_foo,
I'll be in NYC playing March 9th and 10th. Lets hook up!

One nice kit. Loving that sparkle!

How do you like the Raw Bell? From what I`ve heard it is cool. Do you also recommend it for musical situations in Jazz? Or is it just too loud?

The bell I like alot, but I don't know if the 9" size I have would work for jazz. Maybe a smaller one. The whole reason I got it is because I grew up loveing the sound of a Zildjian Mega Bell Ride. The sound of this 22" Raw ride is really close when playing on the bow, but the bell sucked. When I hit the bell, it just sounded like the rest of the ride, so I added the big Raw bell to get the sound I wanted.
I may just break down and buy a Mega Bell this year though, lol.

That 12" x 14" Tom sounds really HUGE and deep. You can't get to articulate with it, like on a 10" or 12" so I may replace it with a 11" x 14" I figure cutting that inch off will give me a little more tone and less boom.

That's nice to know. I've been considering how easy it will be to move my kit up and off stage when my band isn't the headliner. I think that is a great solution for rack users and I'm definitely going to try it when I get my new kit. I have several rack segments, some only a couple feet long, so I think I have enough pieces to not have to cut any.

Nick, ...see if Peace would make you a custom 14" tom....like....8 or 9 inches deep! You'll get great quick projection, but still have the "biggness" of a 14 w/out the 'over-boomy-ness'!

Just a thought!

Also, you list 2 crashes and I see three! :)

Back to answering your questions..lol

That Snare is a monster! I only use it for heavy rock gigs (about 90% of what I do) and that's because it's so damn heavy and wont move when I crack it. Ever been playing and hitting hard, all of a sudden the snare drum starts to bounce and move closer to you and you can't play it correctly anymore? This is the only snare I have ever used that didn't do that. Plus, the tuning ranges is unstopable. Tune high and it has a loud fire-cracker style crack. Tune low and is sounds like a bell brass... I LOVE IT.

And for that 14" Tom, I can get a custom size from Peace, so I will probably have them make me one up. I don't know if I would go as shallow as 9" because the drum will look like a pancake, lol. I think I may do 10" or 11"

Oh yeah, and the Crash thing... If you look at the "gear" page on my website, I have the same photo of the kit, just with numbers and letters on it. The far crash on my left is a 19" Med. and the two up front are matching 19" Rock. Both have a number "3" on them in the other photo.

In Nick's defense, he may not be very technical, but he plays solid and has timing like a Rolex.

. . .
Too bad I've got timing like a Swiss Army watch. :P

But face facts: he's endorsed, and he's pretty much done for himself what all of us wish we could do: make a living as drummers. I give him props. If you don't like it? Go prove to some company that you're worth their time and money, then you can come back to us and throw your weight around.

ANYWAY!

I was curious what you usually have triggered on those pads. Synth loops? Toms? Crashes? Please share.
