Report back. I think your best bet is to do anything you can to describe a cymbal sound you like. If you have a cymbal you like you can send it to him and he'll match up a Saluda as close as possible. 2sticks; ... 18" Earthworks m/h ...what? crash, crash ride? What is coming? |

Oh ya, I ordered a crash. I did my best to describe the cymbals I like and the ones I dont. We talked for about 20 minutes going between Earthworks, Diamond, crash and crash/ride. It came down to a Earthworks crash but with weight moved around a little(I am not 100% sure what he was talking about but thats why he sells cymbals and I work on bikes) Should be here late this week early next.

Got my cymbal today and played it a little. The Earthworks finish is different but I like it. The cymbal sounds a little bit on the dark side for what I like but I am gonna try it tomorrow with the band I play with and see what it sounds like when trying to cut through 3 full stacks and a PA. Dont get me wrong I like it its just a little different than my other cymbals(Meinl soundcasters and Sabian AA rock) The pictures dont do the finish justice as the camera will not pick up all the colors in it.

congrats. keep in mind a lot of folks say it takes the metal in saludas a while to settle before you get your cymbal's absolute best sound. i've got 14" mist-x hats, and i know it took me a bit to like them as much as i do now - not sure if it was the cymbal settling, or just my ears getting used to the contrast from what i'm used to. tell me what you think after you've had a while to get to know your crash

This is true. I really liked my Saludas when I got them. But after gigging with them a couple months they really came to life. I was suprised the next time we actually had time to practice, how much better they sounded in our rehearsal space. I was blown away. I am very proud to endorse Saluda cymbals, even more now...

I tried the 14" mist x crash that I got with my stack. In the stack it sounded good, but when I tried it alone I really didnt like it. Sounded like a wuhan. Eh thats just me i guess, I use Istanbul Agops, and love em.

It probably is a wuhan, its pretty likely thats where they get the blanks from.

Yeah, I heard that they get their blanks from China and Turkey.

The above statement is true! Saluda's are NOT Wuhans...PERIOD....so let's not start this rumor mill again for no reason, ok guys? Don't even get it started. Jamie has clarified that Saluda's are not Wuhans many times. I also have a VooDoo China (19) ...and it sounds NOTHING like a Wuhan my friend has! It's much more "musical" ....... |
