Default MFB's YAMAHA TWIN

I dont wish to steal MFB's thunder or reign on his parade but after seeing his new Oak Yamaha snare, one that i had been looking at I found one at my Guitar Center today used but in excellent shape. Put on a new Genera HD Dry batter head and scrubbing the hoops with some soap and water it is like new. The pictures below will attest to that. And this is exactly what MFB's drum looks like, so I saved him some photo work. And please dont let him know it was only 165.00 USD

Very nice! I don't think it's stealing thunder - more like synergy! Any way you can post a soundfile? I think it might take a while before MFB gets a chance.

All I have is Garage Band. I will try that and see if I get a decent recording.

looks great. I'm really interested in hearing one of those, so a sound file would be greatly appreciated if it's possible. Cheers

Ahahahaha! I knew it!

No worries guys, It's nice to know more are being switched onto these snares. Now, I [i]could[i] post a sound file up, but the problem is I have the software but no decent recording equipment, this snare was actually supposed to be later in the line of items to buy (after an audio interface and some microphones) but it became an urgent one.

Grunters, is that the 12x6 or the 13x6.5? I'm finding it hard to work it out. $165? Nice deal, very nice deal indeed, that's about half what I paid for mine so good work mate. It's a great little snare, I hope you enjoy. It is indeed identical to mine if the sizes are the same.

Hey...the drum measures 6 x 13. I have seen it written both ways 6 x 13 and 6.5 by 13. Musicians Friend sells it on line as well as 123Music for $228.00 The Guitar Center where I went has it on sale for $281.00 Since I was dealing with the used one for a good price I didnt want to stir up trouble asking why they were so much more when they are owned by the same group. Even on line items over $99.00 they ship for free. But I am happy. I spent 20 minutes cleaning and it looks like new. Now to get rid of the buzz from my toms. Enjoy

2 Musashi's in same week. Congrats to Gruntersdad. Perhaps you too, I see Yamaha wood hoops in your future. Killer snare.

Goddam beautiful. I am strongly considering buying the 12x5 (or is it 12x6?) for a price of 230 Canadian...and I think I just might do that...

Thanks Harry and all. ...12 x 6 I'm sure. You wont be disappointed but be wary of the snare throw off. MFB and I both have dislikes with it. I will try to replace mine soon. MIne is used and I found out it was bought new last July, so not old at all. Let us know what you think of the 12 x 6

Yea I am very much aware of the throwoff. It's the same type as the one on the Stage Custom...I'm going to try and get the Dunnett throwoff on there which will make it unbelievable. Then....you know what will be added next...WOOD HOOPS!!

If you find one that requires no drilling let me know. I hate to put two more holes in the drum

Sorry for my ignorance... what difference do wood hoops make to the sound of the drum?

You should PM Skitch - he makes retrofit no-drill adaptors for Dunnett and Trick throw-offs, I believe.

Wood hoops give the drum a fat, cutting, more rounded sound and the rim shots on them bad boys are amazing compared to other hoops.
