is the eliminator pedal long enough so that the player will be able to perform the heel toe technique?

Well, I never had anyone explain to me properly how heel-toe is performed in real life, so I sometimes just do something what I think is heel-toe, but I find the footboard not quite long enough. But, that might just be my technique, because I don't really master the heel-toe method.

I'm using the red ones... but I'm going to try white and blue soon. I just can't do double bass at the same speeds I was doing when I had cheaper Ludwig pedals.

I've tried the black, red, and blue on all on my pedals (Double bass, HH, and remote HH). My favorite is the blue.

I just picked up my Eliminator 2000C chain drive last week, and am amazed at all the different "tweaks" that can be done to it. I have been trying it out on a limited basis, due to the fact that I live in a townhome, and don't want to be evicted, but I think I am leaning towards the white cam. I tend to play heel up, and I find that the batter doesn't seem to rest against the head on the downstroke, like it did with my stock Yamaha pedal.
I will have to wait until band practice (in a few weeks) to find out what setting and cam is right for me for sure, but I am very impressed with this pedal!!!!

The reason I bought a Pearl Eliminator was because they ARE easy to do heel/toe on. Mind you I have fairly large feet so play in socks. As far as cams go, I have tried the 4 that come with it and seem to have settled on the white atm.

I love the Eliminator pedal!

After trying them all, I settled on the Red cam.

I like the quick, but sturdy feel of it.

It's a lot like the old strap drive feel, but ballsier.

I tried the White one for a little while recently, and that was nice, but switched it back to the Red one.

I kinda have mine set-up weird though.

Since I like the footboard more angled, and the beater in a "normal" spot, I took out the small screws and put them back in the chain one spot higher to raise the FB, and keep the beater in the right spot.

It hasn't seemed to affect the screws or the chain one bit, as it's been like that for about 4 years.
I have 2 Eliminators set up the same way.

I also use the old style DW plastic side beater.

The newer ones are more square by the felt, and, I don't know, I heard a difference and didn't like it, so I bought the 4 remaining more angled "old" ones the store had.

I also put the small "weight" thingy under the beater head.

Might all seem a little "quirky", but all I know is my bass drum always sounds freakin' awesome (even Simon Phillips said so!).

wondering if there's anyone new to the wolrd of eliminators? I have recently gone from red to blue to black, haha. i think i may throw on thew whites this week and see if i like it. when my spring tension is tighter, i favor the blue or red. when i loosen up the tension, the black is butter.

I like the blue or the red cam for most of my playing. Both are super smooth and responsive, but with fast footwork (like bonham triplets) the red seems to get me the best playability.

I have finally found the ideal settings for my personal playing style with the eliminators. It involves having somewhere between medium and loose spring tension, blue cams, and the beater distance pretty far back from the head...just a smidge under 45 degree angle. They feel like a dream.

I may be weird here but i use the blue cam on the right pedal and the red on the slave, with the slave slightly tighter than the right.. seems to work for me. possibly compensating to a weaker left foot

GAH i hate when people say that.

YOU DONT NEED A LONG FOOT BOARD FOR HEEL TOE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry pet peeve. but if you do it right you can do it with your heel on the foot baord. on the heel plate part. or on the floor. if you knoiw the technique its doable on any pedal.

I agree. I learned the heel-toe technique back when I used a single pedal and it was a standard Yamaha pedal. I played really fast punk back then so I had to get that quick double and didn't want to take the time to learn the double pedal. Now I play metal with the Pearl Eliminators and can just as easily do heel-toe on them as I could on the Axis longboards that I am selling......yes, selling.

I just got 2 of these pedals with strap drive to replace my Iron Cobras, and I'm using the red cam that they came out of the box in. It feels fast, and a bit quieter and "wierder" than my rolling glides did. One thing I like a lot is that it takes way less energy to go fast with these pedals than the cobras did. I only played for about an hour so I still have to get used to them. I'm jamming with my band tomorrow with the red cam in, then I'm gonna try the blue cam.

I got an Eliminator off of ebay a few days ago and its quite possibly the greatest thing I've ever laid my foot on. I personally like all the cams but the Blue is my favorite. After that is White, Red, and Black.

I've been useing the reds for years but I mostly played metal and started using a cobra double cause I got sick of dragging around 2 kicks and it's a standard. But I use the elim. single on my at home kit but I'm curoise to try the blue now if I still have one after reading all your input.

After 30+ years of hitting things with sticks I must say this pedal surpasses my old favorite the Ludwig speed king. I'm currently using the red cam for it fast response and steep pedal angle. I also have my foot boards set all the way back which helps to compliment the red cam.

My kid had the same issue. The red was too much and the blue not enough. You might try the purple cams, which are somewhere in-between.

Definately the red cams for that lighter touch! Yeah they do purple and yellows ones too, but don't come in pairs! (Just for single pedals then). I wouldn't want to fork out for two packs as they aren't cheap for 2 bits of plastic.

Same here as well!! Spring tension is about moderate, beaters are about 45degrees in relation to the head.

I've had my eliminators double bass pedals for a year and have been playing with the reds. Been working on different techniques the past few weeks and decided to try the other cams and experiment with different footboard positions.

I was surprised when I moved the footboard inwards with the black cams how much more power I was getting and when i put the reds back it was sooo fast! but no power ...... White seems very balanced to me and blue gave me quick effortless triplets even more... so hard to choose now which I'd play with!!

for now...i think i'm sticking with the blue with the footboard in!

BTW...played DW 9002 for 3 years then tried the eliminators at a store and found them to be more fluid and comfortable...immediately bought them!!
