Default Pearl Eliminator Cam Color?

For all the Eliminator fans out there what cam color do you use? I am switching back and forth because I liked black but the dog ate one so now I have to experiment.

Its responsive, but not out of control like the red.

Red. With that in mind, I only tried the others out briefly when I first got the pedal about a month ago. Now I'm inclined to to some heavy experimenting! Good topic...one I was just curious about last night actually.

I was originally going to get a DW5002 but I think I'm going to get the Eliminators instead.

I have tried 4 of them, I think that's all there is, the white (I think) is redundant to me straight away, I'm after a different feel to the pedal, not just a straight smooth cam, I have a similar feel on my pedal at the moment, although maybe not quite as smooth as the eliminator, the blue and red offer a more responsive feel to me, will have to have a play when I get mine, might just have to leave the new crash for a while and get the pedal instead :-)

I just spent 4 hours carefully checking the cams on my 2 eliminator pedals. I have a double bass set up, so I played for a while with each.

White is by far my favorite. Smooth, very powerful and consistant. Then it was black, blue and finally red.

However, I have been playing with the white for a 2 years now. So, I was pretty used to them and might have a bias.

Blue is by far my favourite....i cant hold a steady beat with the reds...they are way to fast lol...at least the blues feel a bit more like you can actually play them

I have not changed from the black one that came on it when I opened the box. It is such an improvement over my old pedal that I don't feel the need to change it.

I will experiment sometime down the road though but for now BLACK is my choice.

I have played blue and red, and I currently play red. This is because the beater is still of the head when I have my foot on the pedal, and with the blue it isn't I think. But I might be wrong. So I will try this afternoon...

I took off my cams and played without them for a little bit and it seemed fairly comfortable then I put the blue ones on and finished band practice. Anyone play without cams??

I'm fairly certain the owner's manual tells you not to play without the cams...

I used the white on my double when I first started playing on it, but now I'm using red, which leaves a little less room for error, but I like the feel a lot more.

No this is the elminator. You can move the heel plate forward and backward like on the powershifter, but the elminator has interchangeable cams.

I use the blue one as well. So far it's working pretty well, I haven't wanted to change to another yet. I was using the red before and I felt like I didn't have much control. I may try the white or black again just to see what they're like.

i shatter two eliminator pedals - the screw where the chain connects to the pedal - the connector that is attached to the pedal basically exploded on me twice

i had my pedal for about 5 years when it did this- wont buy again for sure

but it played well, and i used the WHITE ones

You mean the part that connects the strap to the cam holder? To me, that is the only flaw about the Elinator. I've never broken one, but adjusting the footboard angle with it is a royal pain.

are the differences in cams something like the differenecs between the DW5000 turbo and accelerator pedals?

I've got a 5000 accelerator and i feel like i have more control and a more consistant feel with my friends DW7000's. What gives? are those cams more like the turbo?

can someone give a description of each cam from Pearl? and perhaps an explanation for the differences in feel in terms of the mechanics of the system?

I like the purple cam the best so far. The red is surprisingly good for lower volumes. The yellow is like an extreme version of the white. I really like those purple cams though. They came with some beater counter weights that feel cool as well.

From the Pearl website:

The White Cam is also linear but larger in diameter for a lighter feel and increased power. The Blue cam is offset and starts with a light feel at the beginning of the stroke and accelerates with speed and power upon impact. The Red cam is radically offset and provides great response for sensitive footwork and extreme power upon impact. Two other cams are available for purchase separately: the Purple CAMPL and the Yellow CAMYL Cams. The Purple Cam has a feel that is in between the Blue and Red cams while the Yellow Cam has a unique "top heavy" feel that generates the most power of all the cams. All cams attach and detach easily at the push of a button.
The cam is the part which the chain travels over to get to the bottom of the footboard.

I use the blue cams, looks like that's the trend going on here haha, but I'd love to try the purple and yellow ones. Didn't know they exist until 3 minutes ago. The Eliminators are great, but mine are all messed up. I need to take them completely apart and grease them and reassemble because my slave pedal is really squeeky and rigid and both have a lot of footboard play. I think I got the bad batch. Hopefully they're fixable.
