Default Got to love eBay

I was just searching eBay and found a Starclassic 22x18 bass drum in Diamond Dust for $275 shipped!

I jumped all over it. Now I will have a double bass, 9 piece Starclassic set.

Someone pinch me, I must be dreaming.

Ebay has some killer deals if you look consistantly!!!!!

Mike

Sweet deal man!! I constantly check eBay for add-on drums for all my sets. The problem is I end up buying whole sets and I'm running out of room for all this crap!!!

I posted the kit pics a couple weeks ago. Here they are.

http://www.drummerworld.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=22493

I bought a new Supraphonic LM402 14 x 6.5. Amazing snare.

I will take new pics once I get the additional bass drum.

What heads are you using on your bass drum? I have the new Powersonic from Remo and I don't think it is as good sounding as my old emad with the evans pillow.

Its funny, but the bass drum I purchased has only 8 lugs. My bass drum at home with the kit I just bought has 10.

It is not a deal breaker, but it is a bit dissappointing.

Oh well.

I wonder why Tama would make some starclassic bass drums with 8 lugs and some with 10?

Performers were eight lugs until this year.

Thank you.

I cannot await for it to get here. I bought 2 new Pearl Eliminator dual chain drive pedals today.

I will sell my double eliminator pedal I currently have on Ebay once my new kick comes in!

i use a superkick II. I love it -- i have used a bunch of different kick heads, and i personally found that nothing beats the superkicks. I have tried all of em -- SKI, SKII and even an SKIII -- all are great. Although i have recently switched from aquarian, to remo and now to evans on my tom heads, i will only ever use the superkicks on my bass drum. -- no pillow needed.

Awesome! I was checking out eBay yesterday. I found a few really cool snares for around $100 or less. A couple old Rogers, an old Premier, Acrolites, Supraphonics...

I would really like to try one of those little PDP 805s.

The wife wants to go shopping soon so I may try to make a deal. hah!

Wouldn't you like a set identical to the one used by Gil Moore? :)

Haha, yeah I got your message and I'm still looking for the pics of the set in question. But literally I have drums sitting all over my house, too much stuff.

Hey Elvis, what do you use for your reso bass head? Also, how do you tune it.

I just put the SKIIs on. But it was too late to play it. I have stock Tama resos on now, but one is black and one is off white and is coated.

I am thinking about the ported regulators.

I love the Tama kit. You give great advice!

Thanks, Mike. I love my starclassic too -- and i think i will be undertaking a reqrapping job shortly so i can get a finish as cool as yours. :)

I have the stock tama head as a reso -- which does sound good but it is bot dampened in any way. I would recommend the regularor or the evans ported head -- both are dampened and work great.

as for my tuning, the resonant head is just slightly above wrinkle. I tune the batter head to the pitch i like, which is usually somewhat low. I like a low, thuddy sound that is not too resonant -- i tend to bury the beater a lot, so i like a big thud that sounds great even when it is choked a bit. I am not good at tuning kick drums -- but i just saw a video that i may try:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHABZtDxRTE

im very happy you love the starclassics -- i play my starclassics more than my DWs right now (gigging the DWs while the starclassics are in the studio) and i am CONSTANTLY impressed with the sound. I dont think you could have chosen a better kit.

Absolutely love the Superkick IIs. Sounds so great!

I attempted to cut a hole in the 2nd stock tama reso head while still on the drum. I do not recommend doing this to anybody. Ended up ripping to the edge. So now I will have to buy 2 regulators!

Thanks Fat Elvis.
