Default My new sonor kit

Just picked it up about a week or so ago, I sold my old pearl export kit(including cymbals)and upgraded to the 2005 I tried both mapel and birch and I liked the birch sound better. I picked it up from American Music in seattle for a cheap $799 and it included an 8x8 tom.

here are some pic's

I went with natural look I just love it for some reason and I had to get one. I think im going green next upgrade(it will probably be another sonor :-D )

Last picture I just threw in there because it came out kind of cool...

Sweet kit, really nice looking, but take it from one Sonor-Player to another. Swap out those stock Sonor heads, and you will be impressed with the improvement in the already good sound quality.

Very nice, love that finish. I have not heard a birch kit yet but will have to check one out before I upgrade.

I am also a Sonor player and 2nd that you need to replace those stock batter heads immediately. It's almost like getting another kit upgrade.

Yea I am planning on replacing all the heads im just stuck on cash right now, and I still need to buy my cymbals, I got a question about heads actually.. Ive only been playing about a year or so.. I have always used evans g2 heads with eq2 for the kick drum heads, what do you guys think about coated heads on this birch kit, have any of you other sonor players used them or would you reccomend them?

I will probably just end up going with evans mabey go with pinstripe and Im going emad for my kick Ive tried these heads on some kits in guitarcenter and the sound is so great(plus the sonor kick already has an amazing sound)

Good choice. Great kit for the money!
If you like the G2's, try the Evans EC2's.
I've got them on my Sonor Delites and they are really punchy and deep.
Birch is kind of a controlled sound, so I feel clear heads will be your best choice, although it's just personal preference.
But, the EC2's will bring out the low-end of the kit nicely.
I've also heard this kit with Pinstripes, and it sounded great, but the Evans seem punchier to me.
Don't forget to check out www.sonormuseum message board for some great chat with the Sonor geeks
Cheers
Phil
