Mhhh, I would seriously go to a professional custom drum company...they could tell you very well what you could do.
I think that a wrap over a stock laquered shell would work...but rather listen to the men and women of Maryland drums. all the best! =) Karl |

You have the right idea. you dont need to remove paint to wrap (i dont think you do anyway)
I refinished my set! it turned out awesome. its painted a wood purple. its great! YOU CAN DO THIS! Its stressful but you can do it! keep that in mind. your drums will look great when you are done! |

Why not take off the hardware and take it to an auto paint shop and have it repainted a black sparkle. I think this would be cheaper than going to a pro for a wrap. Call one and get a quote. Some may not want to do it and will give you a ridiculously high price to scare you away. So try a few.

I would just take all the hardware off and the people at the car shop would just paint over the lacquer? Would the finish be okay... i havn't heard of it done this way so i don't if it will come out the way i want... that could be a possibility
