Default My new Reference

This is my new Pearl Reference kit. 24 X 18 bass drum, 13, 16, 18 toms. My snare is a Virgil Donati Signature model from Pearl. The snare and everything else I kept. I traded in my Pearl Masters Retrospec and some $$$ for this kit. I love it. I'll have to get some better pics when I get a chance, also of the cymbals, which are Sabian. AA Hats, AA MH Ride, HHXplosion 16 & 18 inch Crashes, AAX 15" Thin crash, AA 8" splash, Hand Hammered 8" splash, Wuhan 18" China, Pearl Elimnator Double pedal, belt drive.

SWEEET!!!

I know it makes masters owners mad when I say it, but I prefer the reference over the masters. Blasphemy! (crowd draws deep gasp)

The tonality and power of the reference make it one of my favorite playwood kits. The kick drum is especially nice.

I came very close to having a reference kit, but at the time I was deterred when I was told up front: 9 month wait for granite or purple craze.

That is a very nice kit! My kind of layout as well!

Meanwhile, I can only lust...my new kit is due to arrive any day...

Thank you. I have to say, my Masters sounded amazing, I loved it. But I love this more. I'll see if I have a pic of the drums I traded in. So what will be arriving any day???

I can second that. I have a Ref kit and the BD is unbelievable! My main (and only) complaint of the Ref series is the weight of the tom-mounting hardware. The hardware weighs as much as the drums do which to me, seems counter-productive.

Yes, driver seat pics!!

One complaint...and it's not, because that kit is just 'jaw-dropping'!!! Gorgeous!

Get another boom stand and tuck that ride in nice and tight!! Bring the right hand side crash and china in a little too.......but that's just ME ! :)

Beautiful kit! CONGRATS.......I've played one at a Guitar Center and was sooooooo tempted!!!!!!!!

Hey, let's hear them too! :)

Tempus carbon fiber kit. Because it's ultra light, it's the anti-reference...

Incidentally, the 14x5.5 reference wood snare sounds *awesome.* The metal snares are excellent as well.

Looks like you could switch the ride and splash cymbal stands and be right on.

I hear that brother!! I'm a bit Gene Hoglan-ish myself, at 6-3 290lbs!!! So I love the big drums.
My Masters series was 22, 10,12,14,16. Hence also why my cymbals seem to be set up slightly odd at the moment. I just set this new kit up without adjusting the hardware yet and took the pics. You know, like a proud papa. Your kid may be butt ugly when he's born but you can't wait to show 'em off!!!

Hey,

Wow wonerfull kit. The finish is great! I love colors which look great with a white bass reso head. Many colors are just comfortable with black bass reso heads...

To own such a kit is still a dream of mine ^^ Great to have one.
The setup looks like you play heavy grooves/jazz. Am i right?
