Default Hello I'm Dan (29/UK)

Hey everyone, my name is Dan.

I decided that before I go 30 I wanted to start to learn how to play drums.

I have literally had one lesson so far, I am learning with Halifax Drum School (UK). I thought I would also join this forum aswell, seems to have alot of helpful info!

If anyone has any advice, links etc... on techniques/tutorials for beginners then please share them!

My kit is a Roland TD-15KV with Pearl kick and Hi-hat stand.

Hope all is well :)

Hello Dan, nice to have you with us!

I think 29 is a great age to start to learn - mind you, I think pretty much any age is a great age to start, because playing drums is pretty damn fantastic.

If you've had a look around the forum, you'll see that everybody is welcome here, no matter how much or how little they know. Please join in, not only asking questions but also answering.

What sort of music are you aiming to play?

Hi Magenta,

Thanks for the welcome!

I have such a vast range of taste in music that It would be difficult for me to say that I am aiming to play "X" sort of music. Ideally I would like to learn as many styles as I can :)

I am currently learning the basics and I am learning how to play open handed, which I am finding quite difficult but I am persisting as I have heard some really good feedback. Everyone seem to have there own thoughts on this though!

I have had a quick look around the forum and it looks awesome, some really intersting stuff!

:)
