Default My 1967 Supraphonic.

This came in a few days ago. DW member Mikey O made me aware of this drum on ebay and I used the buy it now price.

While the drum was listed as "mint" it did have a very small spot where the chrome had flaked off. About the size of a pencil eraser. I'd give it a solid 98%. Given it's age the drum is in remarkable condituion.

I changed the heads, snare cords, wires, and lubed the rods. That may cause a purist to have a fit but, I bought this as a players drum and not a collectable.

The drum sounds great. Looking down at it was kinda wierd. I spent my youth with one of these things between my knees. I immediatly remembered the look.

Anyway here's a few snap shots of the snare.

That is in even better condition than mine.

You better take good care of that.

Great find!

I have one and I love it, the most versatile snare I own

I'm very happy with it. I played it last Thursday when it came and, again today. The new heads are settling in and, I adjusted the wires a little. The snare cord is still stretching.

The drum sounds and looks great. I was lucky to find this one. Thanks again!

Thanks for the kind words guys. It'l be played plenty and pampered when it's not on the stand.

$425.00 plus $25.00 for shipping. I've seen them for a lot more and in not as good of shape.

I thought the price was very fair.

Congratulations!

The condition of the badge says it all about that drum. My '67 Supraphonic is in pretty near mint shape as well, but the badge is a lot more oxidized, which makes me sure yours has got to be in "new" condition overall. That's a score!

The price is fantastic as well. I've seen pretty nice ones from the late 1960's sell for $400 easy on eBay. Heck, even brandy new ones are about $400... and I'd take the '67 hands down vs. a new one. You were smart to snap that up!

Does it still have the "born on" date? :-)

Have fun!

The shell is clearly stamped. APR17 1967.

It's probably in better shape than the one I owned back in the day. That poor thing had the *&%$ beat out of it for years.

The rim where the rim shots landed was even with the batter head. It took a few years to get like that.
