A friend of mine just bought a classic maple Bonham replica kit and it came with a black head and it just looks nasty! Anyway he contacted Ludwig and they sent him a white head for the front.

I know black heads were a thing of the 80's but I don't care for them at all now. Some kits they look ok on but I prefer to see white or clear heads now.

I really like the fiberskin look on natural drums. My white kit had to have black heads. Contrast baby! I am getting better. I didn't put a pic of my kit up to demonstrate my point. :)

here's my pieced together Stainless Steel kit:

14x26 kick - i think it's from the 80s
16x18 floor - 80s
14x16 floor (used as a rack tom in this pic) - 70s i think
10x14 rack tom - no clue as to the age, it might have been a snare or marching tom at some point as there's some extra holes covered up.

with this kit i used a 8x14 Coliseum Snare or a 12x14 Concert Snare (both are chrome over maple)

this is my Bonham on growth hormones kit that i built with maple Keller Shells over the summer:

20x28 kick
22x20 floor
20x18 floor
16x16 rack
12x15 snare

the ride cymbal is a 26 inch Zildjian Medium... makes the kit look normal sized. heh.

Dear Gawd Bigmetal! That is a sexy, shiny machine there...

I think we should get this guy and Evilbagua together and have a steel drum duel. It'll be epic...

Love both kits but leaning more towards the Ludwigs..lol..you're a lucky man regardless.

I never get good pictures of my kit. For this I used my 12 inch mounted tom, I am waiting for the arrival of my 14 inch tom head as well as my last Paiste Alpha Metal 18" crash so there is one oddball Zildjian on there. Sizes for this pic ar 12, 16, 18, 22, and my trusty supraphonic snare.

Another "inspired by Bonham" kit. I traded for this kit used, so I didn't get to specify a larger bass drum. To be honest, I don't really care now. This Fibes kit sounds like sex and I'm totally in love with it.

13x9 rack tom
16x16 floor tom
18x16 floor tom
22x16 bass drum
14x6.5 vintage Slingerland COB "Krupa" snare

I know the sizes don't match at all, but I really liked this set-up that I used this past weekend at Relay for Life. The drums were made by my boss as the store's first custom kit. Gear is as follows:

Drums:
16x20BD
9x12RT
14x14FT
16x16FT
Early 80's Premier Brass 6.5x14 Snare

Cymbals
14" K Custom Special Dry Hi-Hats
18" A Custom Projection Crash
21" K Custom Special Dry Ride
20" A Custom Ride
